Is sodium really bad for you?

If you are sensitive to it/have a medical reason to reduce it, then yes.0

Too much of anything is bad for you. Sodium used in moderation is fine. In fact, you need some sodium in your diet. Hyponatremia, or low sodium in the blood, can be deadly. The problem comes when too much sodium causes water retention which then leads to things like hypertension, which also leads to heart disease, renal disease and stroke.1
