The struggle

My biggest struggle is food. I live by myself and don't have close ones who are watching their figure. I got out of a bad relationship last year. I was fit in the beginning of my relationship and the demands of my relationship caused me to lose focus of my health. I have struggled very much to get back on track since that time (3.5 yrs). Smh. Meal prep worked so well for me in the past. It has been hard to keep up with. I hope to really start focusing on this and add in some movement. Anyone meal preping and care to share what helps them stay on track?

How to meal prep. Yes it does take a little extra time but that really keeps me on track. I do meal prep about twice a week it does take a little effort but it's definitely worth.

As far as staying on track that's something you're going to have to figure out yourself why you want to stay on track. As for me I had some major surgery last year and lost some weight. Put back a couple pounds of it and for some reason I was at the doctor's weighing myself and I got really pissed off. For me that was it and it set me on this journey since January 1st I lost about 50 pounds. Good luck on your journey.

That is awesome you have lost 50lbs! Kudos to you! I have a little more than that to lose. What foods do you eat? Do you prep the same meals every week?

Thanks a lot I appreciate the kind words. I eat whatever I want. The only caveat is that I stay within the caloric intake that mfp set for me. I also don't take into account my exercise I work out 4 times a week minimum.

As far as food it varies from day-to-day week-to-week. The whole trick is just to stay within the caloric intake and this actually works. Also if you go over your caloric intake once in awhile it's no big deal, just don't make it a daily habit that's what kills you. In March I went on vacation for 4 days I ate too much I drank too much but I enjoyed myself. As of today I'm down an additional15 pounds since that trip.

The one thing that's changed is my mentality. I don't look at this is a diet I look at this as a lifestyle change. Diets suck you have to sacrifice something and I'm not sacrificing anything on this lifestyle change. Good luck.

Hi there! After months of on and off "dieting" I finally buckled down in February and committee to a healthier life style. This last Friday I hit 25 pounds total lost and I have 50.8 to go (not that I'm counting or anything...) I live alone too and I actually find it easier to stay on track as I can choose what I want to eat and don't feel influenced by the poor eating choices of others. I'm actually terrified that I am living with my family this summer and just hoping I won't slip into my bad habits again!

Anyways, I try to meal prep every Sunday for lunches and dinners Monday-Thursday and then typically do a salad and something else on Fridays, but it has been trial and error for me. Some times I try out a recipe and it gives me more or less servings than I expected. Just gotta plan ahead and adjust accordingly.

For example, I made beef stew a few weeks ago and made 8 servings. By day 2 of having it for lunch and dinner, I was so bored of need stew I wanted to eat anything else. That is one downside of living alone - no one else to help eat the food so you have it for days.

Not all weeks are like that - I made crockpot zucchini lasagna a few weeks ago and I loved it so much that I didn't mind having it for the next three days. Otherwise I have also made two smaller dishes and alternated, but I tend to get lazy and like to just make a big batch of something I know I'll love.

As I'm currently in exam mode for school, my meal schedule is wacky. I made a big batch last night to get me through the weekend and Monday. I made beef cabbage stew, which was fantastic and I'm totally on board with eating it tomorrow and Monday. Monday I'll start another meal prep and I'm thinking I'm going to do shredded beef in the crock pot. You can make that into tacos or what not, but I actually usually eat it plain because I'm primitive like that and then can use those calories elsewhere in the day.

Maybe those are some good ideas! When I run out of food early in the week or want to have something else for dinner, I typically always have tilapia in my freezer I can fry up or I'll run out and grab a salad or something else.

Anyways, I know what it is like to gain weight in a relationship. I definitely did that in my past relationship. You just get comfortable. Hang in there!

Also, feel free to add me if you would like. I'm logging in every day and if I find good meal prep recipes, I can certainly send them your way!

    Good luck!

I have tried this in the past and would do real good then fall back off. I was actually considering trying again. Its late now so in the morning I'll give it another go.
