but you make too much money to quit. I swear she's AWFUL in every way. I'm sucking it up but I promise she's going to be the death of me.

It's kind of a 3 stage plan, I wouldn't recommend doing parts 2 and 3 without part 1. Bummer!0 -

Can you get a different job at the same company? Is it a personal issue or her management style? I've had a couple of Sh!tty bosses, and I ended up leaving in both cases. And in both cases, these women did the same thing to everyone in my position. Before me and after me. You can casually look while you're working and sometimes sanity becomes more important than the money. Or a company might make you an offer of more as long as you complete your degree in a certain amount of time. There are options.0

I think you and two other female coworkers should decide to take revenge on your tyrannical boss by abducting her and then running the business yourselves and let the hijinks ensue.
Oh wait there may have been a movie in the 80s with that plot...0 -
Ugh mine too. I feel your terrible boss pain. Mine knows I can't go anywhere and make what I make, with the benefits and flexibility I have, so she knows I won't leave. Being trapped is terrible. Only saving grace I have is that she WILL retire before me. So I may have at least 3 days of peace.0

I had that. Money was great, but my quality of life just sucked. Worked 15 hours a day, 6 days a week, and it was never enough to get the job done. My boss berated me constantly for not getting it all done. Did it for 2 years, banked as much cash as I could, and then left. The new job pays less than the old job, but my life is sooooooo much better!0

My current supervisor and I clashed quite a lot when they first came to the group. It got really bad. I was constantly stressed out, upset, and generally angry.
Things were really bad a year ago and I was looking for another job, even though I really loved my job and didn't really want to leave.
I gave things a lot of thought and tried to see things from my supervisors point of view. Not that they were always right but I decided to just do whatever they asked me to do even if I didn't like it. I made a point to be supportive of their decisions and be willing to at least try the things they wanted my team to do. Some of those things didn't work but some did.
Now a year later I still work in the same lace with the same supervisor. We get along great. No we don't always agree but we respect each other and I support them fully. I am much more careful about how I go about discussing my ideas. Often I have come up with things that have made great improvements for our workplace. I even got a pretty nice raise out of it.
Sometimes what has to change is you. How you view things, how you respond to things and how you think about them.
Maybe your boss really is evil and maybe you really do just need to find another job as soon as you can. But maybe all you need to do is change yourself a little. Maybe you just need to make an effort to understand your boss. Who she is, where she is coming from, what she is trying to accomplish. And support that.
I have found this to be true a few times now.
Nothing changes
I change
Everything changes.
Your circumstances might seem impossible to change. They aren't.
Your world view will not change unless you yourself change.
Yes you can change yourself. But you have to be willing to do that.
Yes if you change yourself, change your focus, change your world view.
Everything can change.
This is called growth.2
