Read a good book lately?

So normally I read Nora Roberts books but I think I'm running out of ones I haven't read!!! So I read Water for Elephants last week and now I'm looking for suggestions on some good books to read. It helps me stay on the elliptical longer if I can get a really good book lol

    All the girls in our youth group were reading the "Hunger Games" and I LOVED THEM! I couldn't put them down. They are not my typical read, I like Nora Roberts alot... but they were soooo good! :)

    Book I'm reading at the moment is Roger's Profanisaurus (The Magna Fartlet). I manage about half a page before laughing too much, so it's taking a while to get through. I think laughing burns a few cals :)

    Two of my favorite books are A divine revelation of Heaven and A divine revelation of Hell. If you read them I would suggest starting with a divine revelation of Hell. They are great books, and they really make you think. They are by Mary Baxter, I got mine at barnes and nobel for I think 12 dollars.

    I'm reading Three Cups of Tea right now, and it's fantastic.

    I'd also recommend Khaled Husseini books: Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns both were amazing.

    And if you're looking for something a little meatier: Max Brooks' book World War Z (about the aftermath of a Zombie Apocalypse) is on my Top Ten list of all-time favorites. LOVED IT TO DEATH. Or Un-death. Whatevs.

    The Elegance of the Hedgehog by Muriel Barbery was also good -- a little harder for a simpleton like me to read, but it has some amazing moments underneath all those big words.

    I love good guy/bad guy books. David Baldacci, Thomas Perry, Greg Isles, Nelson Demille are a few of my favorite athurs.

    I have been reading the Hunger Games series also! It is not what I normally read but I could not put the books down. I am about halfway through book 3 and can't wait to see how it ends!

    I just recently read several mystery books by John Hart that kept my attention, look him up. If you like crime mysteries, try Jan Burke's Irene Kelly Novels too. I was ready for something different and pulled "Forbidden Lessons from a Kabul Guesthouse" which is a true story of an Afghan-American woman who started the charity Help the Afghan Children; it chronicles her trips into Afghanistan over time which was very interesting.

    Janet Evanovich!! The numbers series (Stephanie Plum!) Seventeen just came out.

    Also, Dorthea Benton Frank, Gil McNeil, Barbara Bretton.

    Fantasy: Song of Ice and Fire series: George R.R. Martin (aka Game of Thrones)

    Mystery/Suspense: Stuart Woods (older books are better) (Palindrome is a favorite)

    Ditto to the Hunger Games. They were so good. I've heard good things about the Fallen series too.

    The Glass Castle, Fireflies in December, Saving CeeCee Honeycutt, The Kitchen House, The Help, and Look Again. These are few from my book club that were great reads.

    My favorite books are The Stephanie Plum Series by Janet Evanovich. I can normally read one of these books in a weekend & sometimes in one day if I don't have anything to do. If you haven't read them you should start with the very 1st one of the series ... currently there are 17.

    I am currently reading the Bourne books by Robert Ludlum... He wrote the books in the late 80s... they are the books that are based of the Bourne movies. So if you like a good action book, those are right up your alley!

    I will be reading Water for Elephants after I finish the Bourne books!

    Agree with The Help - loved that book!!! And, the Sookie Stackhouse series (HBO series True Blood is based on these).

    I'm going to add some Canadian content here -

    The Flying Troutmans by Miriam Toews - A wonderful family road trip novel.

    The Gum Thief by Douglas Coupland - Every Coupland novel is pretty much guaranteed to be smart and fun. This one got passed from sister to father to sister to friend and so on.

    The Year of the Flood by Margaret Atwood - Atwood is usually amazing no matter what the genre. This story is nominally sci-fi but written by a master. Plus, it's incredibly timely.

    The Diviners by Margaret Laurence - Probably a much harder book to find in the U.S.A. than the others but worth it. It's either my favourite or second favourite novel of all time and one of the few that I go back and reread every couple of years.

    Very very interesting book about mood disorders in everyday life and how to deal with them and understand where they come from. .... i know its random.. but thas what Im reading. LOL>

    Try Kim Harrison, she writes a series of urban fantasy books. They're amazing, she's a fantastic author. They're funny, scary , full of action. The series starts with Dead Witch Walking. http://www.kimharrison.net/index.html

    Yes, all the books are numbered and start from 1. They great, so funny.

    Yes, all the books are numbered and start from 1. They great, so funny.

    And the between the numbers books too - Plum Lovin, Plum Spooky, Visions of Sugar Plums - LOVE ME SOME RANGER!!! *Sigh*

    the hunger games trilogy is AWESOME!

    Emily Giffen has some fun reads (Something Borrowed, Something Blue, Baby Proof)...Jodi Piccoult is good too.. usually when I read her, I can't put it down (my favorite is Nineteen Minutes). Sophie Kinsella is good/fun too, she wrote the Shopaholic series, which is AWESOME and so funny.

    Currently I am reading "Pride & Prejudice & Zombies"... I really like it! Though I suggest reading the real Pride & Prejudice first! (Not an easy read but very good).

    I wish I could read on the elliptical, it makes me so naseuous haha

    Right now I'm reading, "The Spy" by Clive Cussler and Justin Scott. It's been a real page-turner.

    Heaven is for Real is a great little book about a 4 yr old boy who visits heaven - highly recommend it!

    The China Study (about food, a bit conspiracy theory-ish), Jennifer Crusie's (if you like a little bit of sexy in your books) Agnes and the Hitman, Welcome to Temptation, Getting Rid of Bradley. I like Carl Hiaasen books too.

    I love reading anything by Bentley Little. His books are really graphic and disgusting as far as horror goes, but I am a HUGE horror fan!
