I don't know if I like the idea of a chest strap. Does anyone know of a decent HRM that doesn't have a chest strap?

I didn't like the idea of a chest strap either, but have to say that now half the time after I leave the gym, I forget that I'm even wearing it because it just feels like it's part of my bra, since it goes underneath it. I don't know if there are other options. But if you don't find any, give the chest strap a try. It takes maybe one or two times to get used to. Kind of thigh high panty hose :laugh:0

I guess if I am wearing a sports bra it wouldn't bother me as much. Crap! That's another thing I have to buy, a decent bra. Ugh! It's spendy to get in shape!0

Without a chest strap, you don't get a constant reading, therefore you don't get accuracy of calorie burn, etc. . .which for me is the whole point of a HRM. They are really not uncomfortable. . .
The ones without a strap are just an expensive watch IMHO. . .:flowerforyou:0 -
I first bought the Polar one without the strap. What a waste of money - my opinion. It was not only NOT accurate but you have to stop what you are doing and push a button to get your heart rate. And then sometimes it wouldn't register.
The strap is not uncomfortable. It rides under your sports bra and you forget it's even there.
The price difference between the two is very small.0 -

Oh, yeah... stopping mid-workout would be annoying. Guess I am going to have to just deal with it.0 -

I'm with FloridaGranny on this one. I've had both kinds and I really like the strap. I didn't think I would, but I'm sooooo gald I invested in a HRM with one. It makes it much easier to track your progress.
I have a Timex and paid less than $100 for it
Looks like I am going to have to ask cupid for one.0
