I like to gaze at my profile pic and so I want it to be top notch. Everyone's really here for the dating they just don't know it yet.

I use this pic because I can't stand how I look, which is why I'm here in the first place! Also, there are very few pictures of me in existence, for the same reason. I also use it because there is an amount of anonymity that I want to keep while I'm here, so it can be somewhere that I can talk to people in similar circumstances to me, and not feel like I'm being totally laid bare.
I'm definitely not here for dating (I'm happily engaged), and my partner can see my profile any time he wants, but he knows this is 'my' place, where I can work on becoming a happier, healthier me.5 -

I choose no photo of me on profiles because I want to compartmentalize my life. I don't want people I know IRL to immediately know this is me unless I choose to share that with them. In the past I used to frequent a message board and a cousin showed up and it got awkward having my family in that part of my life/thoughts. I don't choose a photo of another person becauseI know people often assume that is the person posting. ( Don't trust photos on the internet to represent the real person.)
I have put real info about my weight, age, gender, marital status on here just not a photo, my real name or my hometown. I am real enough with online strangers.6 -

Mines a real pic. Cell phone pic of a fishing trip in Mexico (family member). I don't use my face for anonymity reasons. Every once in a while I think about it then decide against it. I think the better question here is, why does anyone care?1
