Don't doubt yourself, there is absolutely a difference between those two pictures! Random, but the first thing that jumped out to me was how clearly your collarbone could be seen in the second photo. Your arms also look more toned. Keep up the great work!8

I think you look great!2

I think you look great too. I can definitely see a difference.
My question is why are you not happy with your results? Do you still have more fat you'd like to lose? Have you tried lifting weights, or did you do just cardio?1 -

I guess it's my arms I'm not happy with? They still seem like they could be smaller. My husband bought me 1 lb weights but they don't seem heavy enough to do anything.5 -

They aren't. You'd be better off doing some sort of bodyweight training - such as some form of pushup (regular, if possible - if not, then more upright, as in pushing off a chair or counter). Also, you'll probably just have to keep at a small deficit, as you can't spot reduce fat. But doing some form of resistance training can help with muscle, which may help with the "look" of your arms.7

I think you look awesome! (Btw I'm the same height, with the same goal weight), However if you still aren't happy about it, reconsider your routine. Just like what trinairby wrote you may want to consider weights. If you're weights aren't heavy enough, definitely go get more, but you can also increase the number of reps you do per set. Another thing to consider is resistance bands, there are lots of different things you can do with them to tone up. Something you can try with just a chair and your body weight are dips, they were so hard for me at first but now I've become a master! Push ups are awesome for arms as well, and they too don't require equipment. I suck at doing military style push ups so I just cross my legs at the knee and do "girl" style push ups. If those are still too difficult, you can start doing them off the wall, standing up. Just a few ideas!4

Agreed, 1lbs are not heavy enough, you need at least 5 and then graduate to 10 and then 15 when ready.sierrabrooke123 wrote: »Push ups are awesome for arms as well, and they too don't require equipment. I've been doing pushups for the past 6 weeks or so and I can definitely see a difference in my arms. My husband has noticed too.

I'll definitely check out the heavier weights tonight when I go out. My worry is that I'll gain too much muscle? I just want all of the flab off of my arms lol...0 -
you look fantastic!!!0

You should check out the other thread on here names 'HALP lifting heavy made me bulky' and you'll start lifting heavy tomorrow! Its not easy for a woman to gain a lot of muscle so the fear is unfounded. I think you will be happy with results of lifting heavy.9
-
You won't gain too much muscle, no worries...lifting will help to sculpt what you've worked so hard to get down to. You'll notice changes in the shape and firmness of everything...and you don't have to lift MAJORLY heavy...you can pick up a couple of kettle bells, they do a nice job....I have slowly accumulated and now have two 5 lb, a 15 lb and a 20 lb. That doesn't sound like much, but they burn fat well and are fun to use once you get the hang of them. You could also incorporate more body weight resistance exercises....Fitness Blender has literally hundreds to choose from, at all different fitness levels and styles. I'm 5'2....hit maintenance in December, and find that playing with weights and changing up my workouts often changed/tightened up my whole body, from my calves all the way to my shoulders. WITHOUT looking "manly"....lol1

Unless you're using an illegal substance, it's highly unlikely you'd get bulky. Check out this thread, community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/977538/halp-heavy-lifting-made-me-supah-bulky/3 -
@VioletRojo you beat me to it!
OP, here's another one http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/1120789/females-only-lifting-weight-training-results/p12 -

Thanks for linking that thread!!! There are some very inspiring posts on there1 -
You look great. Body dismorphia is real. But if you want more tone build some muscle.1
-
You look great. I'm an inch taller than you and about the same weight. Strength training will make a huge difference...2
-
I do strength videos at home, and I started with 2 lb Dumbbells. After couple weeks I started using the 5 lbs on certain exercises. After about two months I can do whole workouts with the 5 lbs and now at 3 months of consistent exercise Im adding in 8 lb Dumbbells. You have to start somewhere. Great job on the loss! You look great.3
-
You look great. My goal is also 135 but im 5'7" im about 7-8 lbs away and im worried i wont be happy there either even though it will be my best since high school. But hey if you arent pleased keep going1

nothing wrong with deciding on a new goal. I'm also 5'3 and I didn't start to like how I looked until I got down to about 120.0

You are looking good. A little strength training will help re sculpt.
Here are 2 workouts to get you started. Both are simple and can be done at home.
Start slow and easy breaking them down and learning the moves then work towards completing the work out.
The body work out simplify the moves, squat to a low stool to get form, push-ups against the wall or a table until you can do them on the floor.

The hand weights. If you have to make notes and do it a little slower to begin with, no problem, work towards working along with the video.

Both workouts are great for strengthening muscle and building a bit of confidence before joining the gym and lifting using a progressive, compound programme like a 5x5 or All Pro.
Cheers, h.1 -
I agree with everyone else.. bodyweight training or/and up the weight on your dumb bells at home! Good luck. You can get there!0

You have to have a lot of testosterone to get big...no fears.0

You are not a barbie. 1lb dumb bells aren't going to do anything when you're used to carrying a 20 lb purse. Get to a gym and start strength training. You'll love your arms once you start building muscle.

You look incredible! This is a common theme in weight loss and fitness journeys alike. People set a goal, and then by the time they reach their goal they've already mentally set a new one and are less than satisfied. Personally, I had an "ideal body" in mind when I started lifting. Now, I've far surpassed that (and all the PR goals that I set) and I'm pushing even further - more defined abs, stronger back, rear delt definition, larger glutes, more defined quads and hamstrings...the list goes on and on. It's human nature to consistently try to become better and strive for "perfection" but do not let that get you down. Look at how far you've come and how beautiful you are, and how healthy you feel! That is what matters!3

^^^ As stated, lifting helps significantly with body image. You will feel strong, be able to beat your previous "heaviest weight" which builds confidence, and your body will look taught and toned. It's a total myth that "lifting heavy" makes women look less feminine. It builds definition and curves. I squat 190 lbs., shoulder press 30 lbs. and lat pull 65 lbs. but still not "blocky and bulky". 1 lb. dumb bells will literally do nothing. Start with 5 lbs. and build your way up.1 -
