I was planning on it, but ended up having to take 2-3 months off from the gym. Doc estimated that I could resume lifting around July. Since it's harder the build muscle than to lose fat, I decided not to go on a calorie deficit and lose even more muscle due to not lifting than I would in a normal cut. So, I am just staying chunky this year.

Sorry to hear that, did you see lot of muscle loss? I always wondered if you keep it or lose it.

Um. I should be because I bulked over the winter but I went nutzo and had to stop my cut early. Whatever. I will still rock a bikini even with the thickness.

So correct me if I'm wrong, but if you continue to work out, don't you need calories?

Can you rephrase this question? Are you asking if you are lifting and cutting do you still need calories? Yes of course, but you still need a deficit to lose fat.

Ok so more protein and less fat is what you do to gain muscle/keep muscle and lose fat?

Gain muscle and inevitably some fat: Protein, heavy strength training, calorie surplus. This is what people do in a bulk.
Lose fat while retaining maximum muscle: Even more protein, heavy strength training, calorie deficit. This is what people do in a cut.

High protein and calorie deficit. Fats will vary according to preference but have no bearing on the actual fat loss. Protein along with heavy lifting helps maintain muscle mass, calorie deficit to lose fat/

I've been doing the shred for the last 3 months.. I'm lifting 3 times a week and cardio 3 times a week. 1400 cals seems to be my sweet spot

1400?! Lord 1800 is tough with lifting. You are tough make sure you don't go catabolic and lose your muscle. I'm feeling great energy wise at 1800 and lifts are still great. Nothing has dropped off but my job has me standing still mostly.

I lost 50lbs lifting weights no cardio. 60 second rest periods. Currently I have 5-10lbs to lose for my abs to look more define so I incorporated cardio with weight training. 5 days of lifting and 15mins of elliptical at the end of each session.

Dude, what are you doing to be able to eat that many calories and still be in a deficit? I'm 218, 6'1 and need to eat below 3300 calories to cut.

    Uh... I'm cutting on 1400 (or 1500, or 1600... I'm pretty sloppy), and I'm a 5'5" woman.

Lift heavy with structured program that has a progressive overload and focuses on compound lifts, eat .8-1g protein per pound of body weight or lean mass, moderate deficit, moderate cardio.
