I'm starting my diet with herbal life shakes because i know some ppl that have lost a lot of weight with it. What meals should i replace with herballife? Are there any suggestions or things that helped u stick to the shakes plan.

Herbalife is still around?????6

You won't find much support on MFP for fad diets like this one, one of the countless meal replacement shake regimens. MFP users typically encourage others to go about weight loss the correct way.11
-
Try to get your money back. Herbalife can be hazardous to your health, and is clearly hazardous to your wallet. Why not eat real food by using MFP for free?5

My only suggestion would be to quit the Herbalife4

Don't bother with the herbal life at all
Eat what you normally eat but less of it. Stick to your daily target and you will lose3 -
You don't really have to replace any meals unless you want to, because losing weight comes down to a calorie deficit, so that all you have to do is eat fewer calories than you burn. You can do that eating food, or drinking shakes, or a combination, it's up to you. Most people prefer to eat food, because that's easier to stick to, and those shakes don't have any magical properties, but it's your choice.
Be extra aware of Herbalife, though, as others have commented already, it comes with real health hazard.4 -
I also have started Herbalife last week how are you finding it?1
-
Lol these comments made me laugh so hard. I get it it's not a good choice. Thank you though for all for the comments. I am using herbal life mostly to get a boost.1

The only boost that you can count on receiving, is being put on a list of patients; whom need liver transplants. Many die on that list, before they find a donor. Those that successfully receive a donor's liver, have to take nearly 20 total pills daily several times a day; to prevent the recipient's body from rejecting it. Sometimes a patient needs more than 1 transplant & life expectancy is greatly reduced, especially when some patients don't even survive; the surgery necessary to receive the transplant.

The only boost someone gets from that stuff is in the wallets of the MLM people that sold it to you.3 -
Save the money you're spending on a pyramid scheme of overpriced vitamins and supplements and buy a food scale instead.
Marketing can be effective. So can placebos. If Herbalife actually worked long term at all, it would be all over the news every night. It doesn't. And it can be dangerous.
You don't need to spend money to lose weight (except for maybe $20 to buy a food scale)2 -
lol she didnt ask about herbal life, she asked for advice in sticking to the plan....jesus guys, i know you're all desperate to impart your sage advice on the girl but not one of you answered the questions.
@shennin001
Meal replacement shakes i find tend to work best in the middle of the day, some people can do with replacing breakfast but i find having an actual meal, replacing lunch and then a real meal for dinner is easier ( i use protein shakes and blended porridge oats etc but same applies)
Im a fan of IF (intermittent fasting) and that usually works well around shakes of all kinds.
to herballife or not to herballife...thats your choice3 -
Isn't Herbalife the one that is linked to liver damage and liver failure, even in those who had no pre existing liver issues?
I would stay far away.4 -
So if the OP asked how to stick to her suicide plan - we should help?Mr_Stabbems wrote: »lol she didnt ask about herbal life, she asked for advice in sticking to the plan....jesus guys, i know you're all desperate to impart your sage advice on the girl but not one of you answered the questions.

OP - I'm not sure why your bad choice is funny to you. But here's my experience with meal replacements.
I did Slim Fast years ago. Lost weight - regained it. The reason for regain - Slim Fast taught me nothing about MY eating habits.
I'm fat because my portions are too big. Logging regular food in My Fitness Pal (MFP) has taught me the true value of foods I eat. This information is invaluable for weight MAINTENANCE. So many people seem to take for granted.....I'm done dieting, so everything can go back to normal. My normal was FAT.
There are no short cuts - there are no boosts. You either figure out what needs to change (forever) ....or you get fat again.
The reason for lack of support on MFP is simple. This site is designed for people to measure & log food. Herbal Life is the exact OPPOSITE. Herbal Life is designed for people who want to skip these steps.13 -
Honestly I wouldn't replace any meals with it. Eat foods you like and stay under your calorie goal. If you know herbalife is not a good choice, then why on earth would you use it?

The only "boost" is to the person's bank account you're buying them from.1

I will replace a serving of protein (tuna sandwich, chicken, hard boiled egg) with a protein shake (whey during the day, Casein at night) if I'm in a hurry or haven't consumed enough protein due to HEAVY CARDIO WORKOUTS. Heavy cardio workouts, weight training and a proper diet FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE is the only way to be healthy, lose weight and maintain a proper weight. CHANGE YOUR LIFE.1

Like others have said, Herba Life won't teach you anything about maintaining a healthy relationship with food. I've tried "quick fix" fad diets in the past (hcg being my biggest mistake), and while I did lose weight, it was at an alarming and unhealthy rate. I couldn't sustain the diet for more than a month and gained all the weight right back.

What boost can herbalife give you that real/normal food can't?
Save your money....learn about nutrition/eating at deficit/ moving more and you'll be slim for life not just for a brief period.3 -

I think it depends on the "coach" ie person selling the product. I've seen their more advanced plan, can't remember what it's called, but it basically looks like most cut meal plans I've ever seen if you plan on doing some resistance training and cardio. 5-6 meals a day, high protein, lower carbs and fat. They give oz and cup sizes for the portions etc. Not witchcraft.
They just flog their shakes and protein instead of buying some other protein shake. Not sure of the validity of their pills and enhancers as they call them. They seem more focused on the "fit" part now. I realize they are ways to attract customers for the product, but free group fit sessions are hard to beat.
OP, I would suggest lunch is the easiest to replace with a shake, but use the food tracker here and calculate your calories accurately. No matter if you use shakes for breaky and lunch, if you down 2000 calories every dinner or snack all night it won't do bupkis.0 -

OK calm down strawman.
OP didn't ask if you would critique her choices she asked when and what meals she should replace not if she should replace them.
World must be looking mighty fine from that there high horse.
I don't care for herbal life stuff, but with the modicum of helpfulness that I can muster up for a random Internet person I try to funnel it into a useful reply. Not hate on her choices and tell her what she should do with her life and how she should spend her money.
Get over yourselves.3 -

@Mr_Stabbems okay so she buys her own Herbal Life but will she also pay for the liver transplant(s), anti rejection medication & worse of all whose going to unnecessarily die because she received (a) liver(s), that could've saved someone whom didn't make a reckless choice but won't simply because she made it onto the list, before someone whom didn't intentionally ruin their liver did?1 -
Lolol lol you're all fecking nuts. She as a few shakes and you think she's going to "need" a liver transplant.
You guys live in some magic cloud crazy land..2 -

@Mr_Stabbems acute liver failure, can happen; just from 1 incident.2 -
I'm am fully aware, I've read those links provided and the studies published. None of that is definitive, and although I do not specialise in liver disease, I do trust my education and training plus my last 5 years working with a wide variety of patients.
I'm not here to discuss the merits or laxk of herbal life products.
I'm only commenting to let you all know that you haven't come across as helpful and the only overwhelming sense I've had from this thread is "judgmental knowitalls"2
