I take a supplement as well, just in case! Because I have low iron in the first place, it is important to me to keep it at a decent level. That list of foods is great though I eat a few of them pretty often, and could easily sneak in more!0

Clams, clams, clams! Also spinach and red meat.0

Besides liver, spinach, collars greens, swiss chard,0

Corn flakes have a lot of iron in them because they are fortified.0

Spinach. Cook it or make a salad with it.0

I have this problem too. I try to add leafy greens and fresh or canned beetroot to as much as I can, but a supplement for a few months might help you out.

Multigrain Cheerios are LOADED with iron!0

Raisins, almonds, broccoli and some pretzels are good paletable sources of iron. I also take a supplement.0

Blood drive folks tell me flinstone vitamins have lots of iron0

I thought that they found that the human body can't absorb the iron from spinach.0

I need to take an iron supplement once or more per day.
Also cheerios have iron in them, have them for breakfast every morning.
Dark leafy greens like spinach, kale really good in iron too.

I've heard this as well? Does anyone know if the old wives tale about using a cast iron skillet has any validity?0 -
Using a cast iron pan will provid iron, its not just an old wives tale.
Be careful counting on your cereal to give you iron, lots of cereals do have tons of iron in them, but the calcium in dairy actually hinders the absorbtion of iron. So eating cereal with milk may actually not be as good as you think.
Having vitamin C along with whatever iron rich food or supplement you have will help absorbtion.0 -
Oatmeal is high in iron. Generic steel cut oats have about 8-10% in a one cup serving. The packet of Better Oats I eat a couple of days per week has 20% RDV because it's fortified. I've also started taking One A Day Women's multivitamin which has the full 18mg of iron women need.0

True about the cereal. Also watch your tannins! I have to supplement twice a day and I take a vitamin C with each supplement. I try to buy the lowest dose vitamin C possible because it causes stomach upset for me where the iron alone never has. This is a battle I fight constantly. I also heard that you don't absorb the iron from spinach.0
