Buying smaller ("goal size") jeans

I am about 2 - 3 sizes away from my goal size. I'm going shopping on Saturday for new jeans and thought about buying one pair in my goal size. Has anyone done this? Does it help with motivation?

I have thought about it, but I know myself and I would be obsessed with constantly trying them on. And then I would be discouraged and upset if they don't fit.

Given the extreme differences between fit, I wouldn't. I can fit in about four or five jean sizes right now, depending on brand.

I tried this once. It didn't work for me. Hung them up where I would see them everyday. I got to hating them, hanging there mocking me.

This has never really worked out for me, because I can't tell how they'll fit when I'm at goal. They always end up fitting kind of weird (e.g., too short, wrong waist/hip ratio).

I've bought pants one size smaller as motivation. Worked for me one size at a time, but that can be kind of a waste of money I guess.

Thanks for the replies! I think I'll save my money and buy a cute (fitting) dress instead!

I bought about 4 pairs of jeans that were the size I had just dropped to, but this particular brand (Lucky) didn't even go past my thighs. They now fit, but I can't imagine purchasing a pair that is 1 size away, let alone 4.

I personally never did this..I would just buy as I went for the size I was currently at. I would have felt like it was hanging over my head...but everyone is different!

Mentally, it might work for you. But it might be a trap. I do not know what my goal size is going to be, but when I get there I can find out. I do wish you all well.

No. How would I know if I will like the style once I'm that size? Maybe a cheap pair for fun.
