At some point I read to get him a nice card, or something, Not looking for it to quote, but I don't ever remember reading a card that says, "hey i have no balls, wanna go out" . . .
You'll be fine. Shy guys like when we make the first move. I has said before I just told me husband "yeah, we're gonna try us now." and I did, but I didn't mention that for years I was standing on tip-toe hoping he's touch my bum :blushing: and literally texting him ALL hours of the day, oh. . . I invited him to go to weddings with me, then one day i told him to see me and see what happens. . . HE MISSED ALL OF THAT. Guys don't pick up on hints, althought I though I was spreadin it pretty thick. . .0 -
I agree with Scully, if you start a relationship playing games you'll never know up from down.
Be honest and open and I know thats difficult if you're a little shy but be brave!
Good luck! xxx0 -
so i have a crush on someone but don't know how to tell him. need advice asap!
I briefly scanned the topic, but did we establish the original poster's gender and the crush's sexuality? I only ask because of the fairly anonymous photo and the user name suggesting it is a male.
I am straight, but I know I am personally flattered when men flirt (the same way I'm flattered when women flirt). I generally turn it into a few drinks before reiterating I'm straight. I have had a few gay friends but I've only had one who directly stated he "wanted me." The friendship definitely grew apart. The good news is, I'm a bad point of comparison--I am non-committal and I have grown apart from female friends who have "wanted something more" too. The bad news is, I'm also way more open and confident than most people around me. A lot of guys don't know how to handle homosexual men.
In summary, you are always taking a risk when you ask someone out, but the risk is greater when it is a friend. I've always made the analogy to a pair of parallel ladders. If you climb real high on the "friendship" ladder, gravity often pulls you down a few rungs when you jump to the relationship ladder. And once you climb back up the relationship ladder...you generally fall even more rungs trying to jump back over to the friendship ladder.
Don't let this be a deterrence to going after what you want. As a selfish hedonist, I say do exactly what you want and if potential greatness of you two outweighs the potential rejection. And don't let shyness deter you.

I am actually flattered when men hit on me. I usually tell em "been there, done that, not my thing, but thanks for the complement!"
But you're right - most men don't know how to handle it.0 -

A lot of us just like simple, direct things. Games get soooo old you know? Even the relationship game gets old when it's treated like a game.
I can tell you right now...I'd very likely kill for an attractive young lady like yourself to be that direct =p. I don't have the patience for playing games right now...and don't think I ever will again. Relationships are work enough (but worth it!) without investing craploads of effort into even finding out if a girl likes you lol. Not that that isn't worth it either...just that it gets seriously played too much.
Your husband is a lucky man...lucky you're as direct as you are, and lucky you didn't quit on him loooong before he got the clue lol.

Honestly?? Being a guy, just rach out and grab him by the ba*** and tell him how you feel!!! I think most guys appreciate total upfront honesty.
<---this. nothing says "I like you" quite like grabbing someone by those.0 -

Awe thanks. . .Direct is the only way to go if you are serious about things. Men don't pick up on hints so. . we need to spell it out. I told her before "accidently" buy two lunchs. . see where it goes, but in the end. . .JUST GO FOR IT!0 -
I really have no advice for you on this one. With me, I have always been very honest. "I like you". It hasn't failed so far... but then again I feel like I just got lucky. I am also really good at reading people, I usually can tell when they like me too. People play so many games and so many things turn some on and others off. It is all so complicated. I wish it wasn't, it shouldn't have to be. Good luck, but remember that sometimes crushes are better left as crushes I mean, I have a crush on Angelina Jolie, like most people... but I would prefer it to stay just as a crush (except in my head =P)0

Haha Kenzie...I knew there was a reason we're MFP buddies =p. Your boyfriend is a very lucky guy too...I mean, Angelina Jolie? C'mon!!
=D
Seriously though...girls, particularly attractive ones like you guys...have it much easier. There's a 95% chance that if they don't have HUGE warts on their personality (and often even then, depending on how attractive...my ex is a perfect example), they can toss a stone in any direction and find a guy who is willing to 'like them' lol.
Us guys have a much more difficult time of it =p.0 -
Us guys have a much more difficult time of it =p.
To quote Jim Jefferies, "To be a stud you have to be witty, charming, well-dressed, have nice shoes, and a fake job. To be a slut, you just have to be there."
