AHHH!!! Again we have another birthday party here at the office. This time there are already muffins, donuts, and sausage mcmuffins and burritos. OH GEEZ. Then everyone is going to lunch probably at the Mexican restaurant (where I love cheese covered deep fried goodness AKA chimichanga!) And let's not forget the cakes and cookies for a nice "snack".
I really need some will power today. And some support, a lot of other women in the office are dieting, but they are all letting it go out the window today, I sure don't want to do that! Encouraging words please!!! SOS HELP!

You'll feel better at the end of the day knowing you were strong...you'll feel like crap if you give in. That's how I feel, anyway. I always think that eating those yummy goodies will make me feel good, but somehow the opposite is ALWAYS true! Be strong...you know you can do it!0

You can make this manageable. First of all, is there any fresh fruit along with all the doughnuts and other breakfast stuff? If so, eat more of that than anything else. Maybe eat the sausage and egg part of the mcmuffin but throw away the bread part?
At the mexican restaurant, find something else you enjoy to eat other than the cheese covered deep fried chimichanga. Fajitas are a good option. Choose corn tortillas over flour. Another decent option is carnitas or steak soft tacos (not a fried shell), just make sure it is loaded with pico de gallo and lettuce with very little cheese and skip the sour cream. Skip the rice and beans, or at least don't eat all of them. Try to sit away from the basket of chips on the table, if you have to reach farther to get to them you will eat fewer.
You can have some treats, it is all about control. Don't have a slice of cake AND a cookie. Have one or the other. Small portions of whatever you choose. And drink a ton of water all day long to combat all the salt and to keep you feeling more full. If you are full it is easier to turn away treats.
Good luck! These are the toughest situations for me as well.0 -
You can do it! I was at a workshop at my job yesterday and all of our meals were catered. It took all of my willpower to not gorge myself on all the delicious Chinese food and pizza, but when I got home and logged my calories and realized I had just barely gone over my calorie limit (instead of completely blowing it like I had thought), I felt so proud!
So, I know if you can hang on, make those good choices, you will finish the day feeling proud of yourself as well!0 -
I always ask myself...."Is this really worth the calories?" That generally stops me or limits me to one bite of one thing....YOU CAN DO THIS! JUST SAY NO! Good luck!0

You may not have to completely exclude yourself from the fun. I love eating at Mexican restaurants because it's simple to change a couple of things here and there to fit your diet needs. Like substituting the flour tortillas with lettuce leafs when having chicken fajitas (I suppose you could possibly do that for tacos). I omit cheese and limit sour cream to 1-2 tbsp and voila, diet friendly. You're already thinking ahead, so you can do it!0

You will definitely feel better at the end of the day if you skip the junk.
Remember that YOU have control over what goes in your body and you don't need things that won't help you acheive your goals.
Every time you prove to yourself that you don't need it you become a little stronger.
You can do this!!0 -
I agree with all the other posts. Don't feel pressured into eating the snacks- just say no. At the meal have maybe a chicken salad or something light!0

Office parties are tough. But keep in mind that there's a holiday weekend coming up, and if you want to be able to go over your cals one day this weekend, you'll want to refrain from the junk today.
PP is right, though - planning is everything. Know what you're going to have before you even walk in the restaurant and your olfactory sense goes on overdrive. If you have any snacks at all, eat them before you go.
You'll do it. We have faith in you!0 -

Thanks everyone for the advice and motivational words. I ate my banana and some peanut butter so right now I feel pretty full and not craving much. But I will keep my water close at hand and think about how much it will take to burn that nasty stuff off! throughout the day!
Besides I only have 3 more months until my wedding 4 more months until I'm in Mexico on my honeymoon!!! I need to look GOOOD!0
