Hello! Im doing LCHF too since May 11 lost 6lbs so far. I'm a type 2 diabetic with high blood pressure. Since starting lchf, my b/s are within the normal range and even too low ( i might need to have meds adjusted). My blood pressure is doing better too. Im sticking to 30 g of carbs or less and 1200 calories. Im also excerising atleast 3 days a week but only for an hour (im a mom, full time employee, student and caregiver) Im looking to better my health not just for weight loss to fit into skinny clothes lol. Im an older mom with young kids and i need to be around for them Low carb helped me loose 45lbs back in 2007 so i know it works ":)5

Hello. I'm also doing LCHF/KETO. Nice to see that I'm not alone. Down from 243 to 156, from a size 24 to a size 6. I've done it for 2 1/2 years, though I've fallen off a time or two. I've tried higher protein. It doesn't work for me. My macros are <20g net carbs (usually a lot less), 60-70g of protein, and fat until I'm satisfied.7

Suggest you check out the main low carber forum group here in MFP. It's where most of us Ketofiles tend to hang out:

Just started Monday! Can't believe how much better I feel already. This diet never made sense to me when I would see/hear people talk about it. But, my Mom gave me a book called "The Carb Addicts Diet". I didn't read it for about a month. But she kept talking to me about it, and after experiencing some of the major issues she had pinpointed of being a carb addict, I finally read it. Now it makes sense to me.
Like other poster's mentioned, though, I am still tracking calories and trying to stay under my allotment.0 -

Technically I'd say a more appropriate name is Low Carb, Moderate Protein, Moderate Fat. The "High Fat" in weight loss SHOULD refer to the body fat you're burning for energy rather than dietary fat if you're doing it correctly. Higher dietary fat is more the territory of maintenance LCHF imo.
Too much protein will turn into glucose, lower carbs will not satisfy you therefore, raising good fat will satiate and will not raise your inslin levels therfore the fuel your body will reach for is fat you store on your body. This will help you lose weight.
I've lost 49lbs since February 1st so I don't think weight loss is an issue for me but thanks . My macros are set up at 75% fat, 20% fat, 5% carbs as well (to fit my OKL chart specs reasonably well) but I would never eat the entire fat macro (which I think a lot of non-LCHF people think we do, thus why I said this WOE could use a renaming) because that makes no sense in weight loss when you need to be burning the fat off your body.
Furthermore you have to eat a pretty significant amount of protein to have issues with glucogenesis as I understand it (If I recall the last article I read on the subject it was something wild like 300g+!). Eating a moderate amount of protein would be highly unlikely to "turn steak into cake" and I've yet to be in any LCHF group that would disagree with that outside of MFP.
I prefer a ratio of 60% fat, 30%fat, and fill in the rest with fat.

And after the 2nd day, I lost all cravings for carbs but I did feel a little nauseated from eating so much fat. Now I have added moderate protein so I don't have that problem. I still watch my caloric intake as I believe a calorie is a calorie. I have a goal of losing another 50 lbs.
And THIS is why I feel nauseated! Thank you. I've been a hot mess all morning!
This is why I needed to find this thread!

Been doing LCHF properly since May 30th lost three lbs so far, loving it and not finding it hard it all, can see myself doing this for life! Really excited and enjoying gaining knowledge on eating like this.My hubby and I are following the 'carb nite' plan, which allows you a high carb treat meal every 5-7 days, however we're giving it 12 days before having our first to get used to this WOL. Anyone else had any success doing this (refeeding/carb nite)?0

All the LCHF communities I am a part of outside of MFP are against refeeding for weight loss and definitely against it in the beginning (it usually comes up in discussions when someone has lost a significant amount, has "stalled" and thinks refeeding will somehow help). Why do you want to do refeeding that early in the game @maryohara842 ?0 -
I'm interested and motivated to do the keto diet and need lots of help and motivation along the way. Looking for great new friends with experience and support.0

Me too, but I'm confused about how much to eat? I know it 75% fat, 20% protein and 5% carbs. How does that break down as far as grams and net carbs? Still learning :-)0

I am on the lo carb as well. Have been off and on for one year. I have lost 61 lbs so far. I am in a huge plateau. I could use some help. What is every one eating? Like what do you eat for breakfast, lunch, dinner and how many carbs are you taking in a day. I have 20-25 pounds left to go. I have lost since 2011 91 lbs.
Help please.0 -
Please add me, I could use some friends, motivation and help. I dont know how to add people. I am still learning how to use this site.

Just started today using fitness pal (signed up before but never really used it). Also doing low carb to try and get this weight/fat to come off. Its worked in the past, but lately I'm at a stand still. I think too many nuts, hence Fitness pal to put me on track.0

I would like to get back to this, although I enjoy my fruit! I did fairly well when I was on a low carb diet, it was very difficult for me though, being a shift worker, I need to eat to stay up at nights and not rely on coffee! What I believe I have is stress related weight that is very stubborn to work off even with adequate exercise. So I would like to try this again. Help would be appreciated, Thanks0

Hi all LCHF here too. Been working this for 3 weeks now...the scales are telling me I'm loosening0

Hi Everyone! Low carb dieter / lifestyle change here as well! Been doing the low carb diet for about 4 weeks now. Feeling really good, and I'm down 7 pounds. I've tried many diets before, but never really lost any weight, in that time. Diagnosed with PCOS a few years back, and recently my doctor suggested to try a low carb diet to help with the issue of losing weight.2

I've just started low carb myself. I'm doing LCHF, and have been on it 5 days, and have already lost 6 lbs! I've lost more in one week on this diet than I could in a month before. I've been logging on a carb app, but would rather use MFP...is there a way to customize the settings?
Anyway, feel free to add me!0 -
