Alot of people are confused on this issue...... heavy 4-6 or lighter 8-12reps, which is better for gaining muscle

It was my understanding that doing a smaller amount of reps with heavier weights is what helps with muscle gain.

...but what do I know? I'm a cardio junkie lol

Thanks, ive plateaued for the last month, lifting between 8-12reps. I was thinking of changing it up and going heavier to shock the body.

You don't need to shock the body, but it may be worth mixing in some lower rep ranges at a heavier weight. Most everything I've read on the subject pushes varying rep ranges, but changing the focus depending on your current goal (strength vs hypertrophy).

Under 8 reps per set = strength
8-12 reps per set = hypertrophy
More than 12 reps per set = enurance

Thanks for all the advice, i guess to really utilise our body, we should do different rep ranges per week.

Here is an excellent article on the question you are asking. It does a much better job than my very brief answer above.
