glad im not alone haha. One time i bought it and with bite i was like NOOOOOOOOO THIS IS NOT PEANUT BUTTER. not ok.

The odd thing about it is that I think almond butter is garbage, but prefer to eat whole almonds over peanuts if given the choice. I loooooove those tamari almonds from Costco and can absolutely destroy a bag of those, but I don't remember even before marrying a man with a peanut allergy ever just sitting down with a bag of peanuts. Weird, right?

I wonder how almond butter made from tamari almonds or candied cinnamon almonds would taste... >:)

Marantha used to make a macadamia butter that was incredible and carb friendly.

Ugh don't ever buy Marantha Coconut Almond Butter unless you plan on finishing like the whole thing in a day.

Oh yeah. Almond butter, cashew butter, walnut butter, macadamia nut butter, hazlenut butter, Brazil nut butter...drool, drool. :p

Pistachio butter. And smoked almond butter. I found them at a farmer's market at the beach a couple of years ago, and I keep going back every time I go to the beach, but they never seem to have those particular flavors. I can make pistachio butter myself in the food processor, but I haven't found anything that quite replicates the smoked almond butter. The smoked almonds I find in the grocery don't taste the same.

Hmm, just had an idea. Bacon fat added to the almonds in the food processor....

Pistachio butter! have never had it...must have. smoked almond butter also sounds so yummy and yes I think hickory smoked bacon fat could be the answer LOL!

I don't understand this thread at all. Almond butter tastes like sadness and existential dread compared to peanut butter...

My husband has a terrible peanut allergy and so I've tried pretty well all non-peanut substitutes, and nothing except that soy-based Wowbutter even comes close IMO. Especially because where I live the almond stuff is like $14/jar, twice as much as most of the other options.

You must be trying the wrong brand. Try justins maple/honey/vanilla almond butter, jif creamy almond butter, or barney butter.

I've had pistachio butter and it is to DIE for. I used to live near a small store that sold it cheaply.

I have in fact tried all the brands you suggested (as I said, my husband's peanut allergy is severe but I was a big peanut butter fan before I met him.) Still think it's pretty gross. The worst is the Maranatha IMO, though.

@peleroja - Alas! you will have to eat your peanut butter at work or at your neighbors house and shower, brush, floss, & waterpik before you kiss your husband. LOL!!

I tried it. Didn't care for it. It was bland. I didn't get sweetened because if it needs added sugar to taste good I'll just stick to peanut butter which doesn't need added sugar and is way cheaper.

wait until you try sunflower seed butter

Sunflower seed butter is seriously my favorite of all the butters that are not cookie butter. :)

I think many of these are unavailable in England; perhaps I should be grateful.

But it's the only brand that makes caramel almond butter!

Oh, but you can make your own! It's so easy! Throw the nuts in a blender let 'er rip!

I am literally embarrassed to say it... I have NEVER tried it. I'm scared as I love PB and don't want to deplete my feelings

I wish they made a PB2 almond version!!

You can make your own! Nut butters are pretty easy to make in a food processor or high powered blender (like Ninja, Vitmix). Best part, all it takes is the nuts. You don't need to add anything else and it comes out delicious.

Same. I have, however, stood in front of the almond butters at the store, contemplating and debating, and I've always walked away because I'm afraid I'll like it too much

PB2 isn't a nut butter. It's a nut flour with most of the fat removed.

That is what I should have done - not spread it on delicious bread with honey.
