I quit drinking diet coke recently just because I wanted to cut down on caffeine. The offshoot has been I don't get as hungry nor do I think about food constantly like I used to. It is like a miracle.

It is much easier to eat below my calories. I guess all that hype about how artificial sweeteners trick the brain into wanting a vicious cycle of sweet satisfaction is true.

The same happened to me, i always heard diet drinks fooled you into wanting more calories and I found that it was pretty much true, the more diet drinks I consume the hungrier I am that day. I use to think drinking alot of it would fill my stomach like water does but I guess it doesn't work that way. I usually wait for a soda with my dinner.

    YES!

I don't care how people say that artificial sweeteners are fine. They are not for me. They actually trigger cravings more than sugar. The only one that doesn't do it to me is Stevia.

That's what I use in my coffee, and it doesn't seem to cause the cravings as much.

It's true for some people but not others.

They trick your metabolism into thinking sugar is on its way. This causes your body to pump out insulin, the fat storage hormone, which lays down more belly fat.... at least that's what I've read.

I just always liked the 'real thing' better... artificial sweeteners just taste too sweet for my taste. I don't drink a lot of it, but when I feel like getting a glass of it...it will for sure be regular Coke (however I did notice they tend to taste a bit different in different countries - for example I like the taste much better in Finland than in Norway...maybe I'm weird)

I find drinking diet coke makes me crave diet coke. And then I'm too full to eat.
