I don't know a way to selectively allow a muscle group to atrophy while maintaining fitness elsewhere. I'll be curious to see if such does exist.

How are you going to lose calf muscle while running? That tends to build them.

Also, why hate on the muscles? (Genuine question, going to gym tonight to lift baby weights, doesn't understand.)

The first question is are you eating in a calorie deficit?

    Secondly, you can't spot reduce.

if you have muscular calves there is no way to slim them down. unless you stop using your legs and diet and lose muscle mass.you cannot spot reduce. your calves are most likely going to stay that way, genetics plays a part as well.

As suggested above, running will not make your calf muscles smaller.

I've never heard of someone trying to *reduce* muscle.

Run for your health. Run to increase your calorie burn. Run to compete with FitBit friends or to decrease your 5k time. I think it's counterintuitive to run for muscle loss.

As a lot of folks have already said, you cannot regress the muscular development of your calves by running. To use as an example that's like me saying I want to reduce my biceps, but I continue doing bicep curls. The only way you can lose size is if you don't do any work for your leg, but that isn't something I'd recommend AT ALL.

I encourage you to be proud of your calves development! Women with solid legs already have a GREAT starting point in their bodily development. If you're looking to improve your figure start utilizing weight training and steadily build up a consistent beneficial diet.
