Help with wls approval

Hi there! I just received a referral from my PCM for gastric bypass. Has anyone used their MFP logs to help with insurance approval? I'm 37 BMI so I'm worried if I lost too much during "supervised diet" that they won't let me have surgery. It's frustrating because I've been on all sorts of diets, lose some weight but gain it right back, hence time for wls. But I've tracked my weight on MFP all this time with several months of food logging since 2010. Do you think if I print it all out they willaccept it instead having to do 6 months of supervised diet? I'm pretty sure my PCM would sign it if he had to. TIA

Check with your medical doc. Insurance rules for these surgeries are less strict than they used to be.

Most likely not. They have you losing before surgery so show that you can be disciplined with your intake. It's usually a good indicator of if you will be successful after the surgery.

Surgery is not a quick fix and you can still gain weight back.

No you have to follow their plan for the amount if time they say to see if you are capable of following a diet because if you can't do it before the chances are you won't do it after and regain any post surgery weight loss

Yes, That's me in the pic after doing a super strict keto diet and only eating 900 calories a day. I was miserable and puking up cheat foods. I lost 35lbs and gained it all back and then some! I know surgery is not a quick fix

It permently alters your body and you will still have to learn to eat less.

I've had several friends on here throughout the years who have had weight loss surgery. They where all made to do the supervised dieting, it didn't matter that they could show their mfp log. The doctors needed to see that they had the willpower and determination needed to follow through. Anyone can type up whatever they want on a website and print it , so they likely won't take you log as proof. They'll want to really see that you are able to do this. They will want to weigh you and so on to track your progress.
I have nothing against people who decide to do wls. But I think it's a good idea to do as much research on your own as possible and educate yourself before committing to it. Make sure this is really what you want to do.
You mentioned you've tried many diets but gain the weight back. That tells me that you have not yet learned about the tools needed for long term success. Portion control and moderation. Anyone can do Keto for a few months or so a vlcd and lose some weight. But could you imagine doing Keto or 900 cals forever? No i couldn't! Instead I learned portion control and moderation. There's no need for any fad diet or gimmicks . With these tools,i don't have to deprive myself of anything. Deprivation doesn't work for the long run. Moderation does.
So if I where you, I would think about this before making your decision. I believe you can do this without surgery but it's your body and up to you!

Insurance companies have different rules. Why don't you just contact them and ask?
