Eating late

Has anyone heard that if you eat late you will gain weight?

    Working two jobs I get hungry. I still have calories left. Didn't think I could use them at 10

    Meal timing and meal frequency have no affect on weight loss.. If calories are equal, it doesn't matter how often or how late you eat. In the end, your body only recognizes energy, and it's not based on a clock. Essentially, your metabolism only stops when you die.

    If you stay in a calorie deficit you will lose weight. What time you eat has no effect on the science of weight loss.

    Your body burns calories around the clock and weight loss happens over an extended amount of time so meal timing doesn't matter at all.

    Usually if you're not seeing any loss after a couple weeks, it means you're either overestimating your calories out, or underestimating your calories in. As others have said make sure you're weighing everything and make adjustments until you start seeing progress.

    Last night I measured out the food. I will have to invest in a food scale.

    Not exactly. I've heard that setting a cutoff time for eating can help with weight loss, which is similar.

    Last night I measured out the food. I will have to invest in a food scale.

    It will be the best $15-$20 you'll spend. I wouldn't have been able to know how much I was eating without it and I lost over 45 pounds by weighing everything.

    Please be sure to weigh even the prepackaged food. There may be a bit of give or take on the amount in the package than what was listed on the nutrition facts given on the packaging.

    I've heard it. However, as someone who always eats before bed, and still maintaining every pound lost for 5 years now. I can tell you it simply isn't true. You're on the right track by investing in a food scale and monitoring your daily calorie intake. I like to eat before bed as I feel like I get a better nights sleep when I do.

    I am weighing food and logging food intake.
    This past weekend didn't seem like I ate a lot. ..but I did.
    But I LOST 1LB. I know that doesn't seem like a lot. For me IT IT'S PROGRESS!

    I eat anywhere from a 600 to 1,000 calorie dinner and am in bed less than an hour later, every night. I've lost almost 75 pounds doing this every day. I've never worried about eating before bed. It's just my preference

    There is some research about fasting and how it has helped some with weight loss. Fasting as in eating for a small window during the day and fasting for the rest of the day. Obviously going to bed with a tummy full of anything is bad for digestion because of how your body acts during sleep. But going to bed with a stomach full of sugar or grains will spike your blood sugar and your body will just store that as fat.

    Your body only stores sugar as fat once glycogen stores are full and if you are in a deficit, there won't be a net storage surplus; and to be semantically correct, carbs are less likely to be stored as fat, then dietary fat... your body just doesn't have to do as much. Fasting can be beneficial to some as it makes it harder to eat a ton of calories since you have smaller window.

    Anecdotally, I didn't do very well with 16:8. My body never adapted and my hunger pains just never went away.

    The only way it'll be stored as fat is if you eat over maintenance.
