That's a pretty big jump in calories. What made you choose 4,000 as a new goal?0

4k is a lot, but I look at it this way - everyone has special occasions where they indulge. If you go over for an event, it's fine. You might see less of a loss that week, or no loss, or even a gain if you eat a lot of high sodium food. But life continues during your weight loss journey. What you can't do is decide that there's a "special occasion" every week or every day.0

if it's just for the one day, it probably won't have any effect on your efforts long term. You may see a short term gain in water weight, but you're only 2500 cals (range) above your usual level.
FWIW, it takes me much less to fill up now, so even on a few days I planned on going above my usual calorie allotment, I still only manages to eat around current maintenance level.
Enjoy your event!0 -

I used to eat at a maintainable goal calorie intake when I was on vacation for 2 weeks so I have enough room to eat high calorie goals. Me picking 4000 is just for one day, then I go back to normal 1600 calories the next day.
Oh, I misunderstood your post. Eating 4,000 for one day shouldn't be a problem (although you may see some temporary water weight gain). Many people eat more on a special day like a birthday or holiday. Have fun!0 -
Just keep in mind that if you haven't eaten more than 1600 calories for quite a while, or if you haven't eaten rich food for awhile, you may find that eating a lot more or much richer foods makes you feel not so great. Absolutely give yourself a break and enjoy your special event but keep a lookout (or a "feelout") for how the food is affecting you. Wouldn't want you to end up getting sick at the end of the day.1

This! Also, I wouldn't necessary set a calorie goal as to how much you'll over eat. Pick an item or two or maybe a meal you really want, weigh and log that and you may be satisfied with much less than what you thought.
Personally, I like my rewards and celebrations to NOT be food related. To each their own, of course.0 -
