Hi everyone, I'm a newbie and am very overweight (BMI 43!)
I started a thread a few days ago about excercise and it sounds like the way to go for now is walking.
A few people have suggested some light resistance training too but I have no clue where to start... can anyone recommend some names of easier excercises I might be able to do and I can hopefully find a video on you tube to show me how to do them? Also what equipment will i need? Ie bands, weights etc..?
Thank you so much in advance xx

Any of the following are good newbie starting exercise plans that many on this site recommend
StrongLifts 5x5
StrongCurves
Starting Strength
You'll need a basic membership at a gym that has a squat rack and free weights. That will run you $15 ( no frills ) to $30 a month in most areas.
An alternative option is body weight exercises ... good starting references for that are :

Start walking for sure. Keep track of how far you go and how long it takes you. Keep progressing by either adding time, distance, or both. Walking is great!
Good advice by @pmm3437. Are you planning on joining a gym? Then the programs listed above are great. See if you can get a free consult or two from a qualified trainer at your gym to make sure you use proper form.
If you don't want to join a gym, no problem. Keep it simple: start with body weight exercises. They are a lot harder than they seem.0 -
Bicep curls
Standing lateral lifts
Maybe 5-7lbs Three sets of 121 -
Fantastic thanks everyone! I'm a stay at home mum and money is quite tight so I'm hoping I can do some at home without the gym at first. I will take a look into your suggestions but maybe join a gym when I'm a bit fitter, hopefully thinner and a bit more confident!0

Actually I think you should focus on walking and include some bodyweight exercises
- compound lift programmes as recommended in the second post may be a bit too far to begin with but they are certainly something to progress to
