Hi all,
3 weeks ago I had my bloods done and everything came back perfect. I had internally been blaming being overweight on an underlying health condition. Now I know that isn't the case I decided to take responsibility and get going.
I'm terrible at diets so I knew I had to stick to something with rules. So I've been doing atkins for 2 weeks. I'm eating lots of green veg, various meats and fish, as well as healthy fats. I struggle with dairy, mainly that I feel so sick when I eat it, so I've yet to have cheese or cream. So I guess this is like a paleo type thing as I've eaten no processed food. I'm never hungry and don't crave food but I have 3 great size meals a day, average about 1400 calories per day and exercise 3-4 times a week.
I have my energy back, feel happier, less anxious, alert and I've lost more weight than I thought I would. And.....no bloat.
So thought I'd introduce myself. I guess when I started I didn't think about the long term and a diet that would suit my lifestyle but I just can't get over how good I feel. Over the coming weeks i'll be adding back various foods, this week more veg.
I keep thinking I want to switch to something that gives me more freedom but I just don't think I'll cope.

At 1400 kc / day, doesn't really matter what diet you follow, you will likely lose weight! So whatever works!1

Hi there,
I've recently switched to watching my carbs too. Historically I've been all about the calorie count but was finding it harder and harder to stick to and allowing my intake to creep up. Gave myself a break for a month (gained 3lbs!) and have now started "New Atkins" and am 7lbs down.
Like you, I need rules. I love that the "new" version recognises the necessity for veggies (although can't say I love the lowest carb options!) and having a great time cooking up new recipes. 3 more lbs and I'll be treating myself to an induction friendly pecan cheesecake!
Congratulations on wins so far and if you want a friend feel free to add me.1 -
As a diabetic the low carb lifestyle only makes sense to me. Additionally, it seems pointless to consume grain calories that have no nutrients. I feel like the weight is falling off. I'm even fasting from 2000-1200 Friday to Saturday night and Saturday night to Sunday to burn even more fat.1

Yup your are right, most diets on 1400calories you lose. But for some reason I'm not hungry.
I used to calorie count and even on 1700 I'd be craving more food.
So maybe foods higher in fat/protein keep you fuller longer?0 -
I strongly suggest you check out the main low carber daily forum group here in MFP. It's where most of us Ketofiles tend to hang out:
