Do you weigh all your solids on a food scale?

You're eating more than you think.

    Buy a food scale.

Well, there's your problem. You're eating too much.

Get yourself a food scale and use it. Target has them for pretty cheap.

weigh and measure everything. Once I got in the habit of doing this little step, I realized I was overestimating the amount of food I was eating. Made a huge difference.

For the first 4 days, I was eating from about two and and a half bowls of food a meal to one and I thought I was doing alright but the doubt hit me to think that I might be maybe kidding myself. I found that to be true. I have a good scale which allows me to put a plate on the scale, put the scale back to 0 grams so it accounts that there is a bowl on the scale and when I have to add the food, then I get a proper measurement.

I find it that I'm eating far less food than I used to, something maybe to 1/6 of what I used to eat. I hope getting a digital food scale which can go back to zero, helps you.

You may also be a little too low on your calories. If you put your body into "starvation mode", you won't see the weight loss. Your body wants to hold onto what it has. I have read not to go below 1200 calories a day.

yes food scale for solids, and make sure you are factoring in drinks, and any oils or butter you are cooking with. also make sure you verify how many calories are actually in something as there are a lot of wrong entries in the data base.

This is old hat for me. In 2012 I lost 50lbs with combo of just watching and counting calories. I've been through every step you can imagine. I've been maintaining it with in 10lbs since. When I gain a few, I go back and start weighing things. You want to be totally amazed, weigh a serving of cereal. You'll be amazed and probably cry.

The reason that you aren't losing is you really AREN'T eating 1000 calories daily. You think you are, but you can't be sure until you weigh it.

This is not true. She is eating more than she thinks. If she were actually 1000 calories per day she would be losing.

this... starvation mode is not a thing.. just science if you are eaten less calories than you are burning you will lose weight.

You're not eating a 1000 calories like you think you are, otherwise you would be losing weight. The advice to weigh food is great, plus log everything you eat, including condiments, and everything you drink. If you exercise, eat only a portion of those calories back because they are usually underestimated.

No, absolutely not. Starvation mode is a myth as to regular dieting. :) Starvation mode is real as to people who are emaciated and literally starving.

When I first started measuring food, I was appalled at how many servings I was counting as just one. :-)

Oh, do I ever remember this too! It is so easy to underestimate those portions.

When I was a teen back in the 70's, I was on some weird diet that allowed me one ounce of meat with dinner. I thought that wasn't so bad, so I served myself that heft ounce. My mother looked at the serving, said it was not an ounce, and proceeded to show me what an ounce looked like, which was about as small as a matchbook. Now, as I look back, I realize that portion I chose was probably 4 or 5 the accurate portion size!

If OP was truly eating 1000 calories a day the weight would be falling off her..
She's eating too much to lose weight, rather than not enough.
