I'm new, encouragement and tips please

So the last year and a half i've found myself off and on the "healthy life" wagon. i'm in a day to day battle with a sugar addiction and a love affair with food. I'm a recovering drug addict and alcoholic, i quit smoking cigarettes...how is it that sugar and food has me in its grips. anyways, i see hope with this application on my phone, i see that i'm not alone...

You should check out "made to crave', a christian book that tells the reader that insteading of craving food, alcohol, sugar, tobacco, etc, they should be craving God. I don't know if you are a Christian, but God loves you and wants you to be your best.0

Good for you on ALL the positives, you seem to have come a long ways with all the recovering you are doing! The best advice I can give you is to take it one day at a time, as a recovering addict you should be well aware of how that works...lol! take your food one day, one meal etc. at a time as you would with anything else. aim to eat healthier meals and lots of fruits and veggies. I never used to be a big fruit eater but now I MUST have it on a daily basis. I eat a pint of cut and washed straeberries with splenda and a few tbl spoons of lite frozen cool whip, its a great way to beat those sweet tooth cravings. Purple grapes are also a biggie for me as they are sweet and yummy along with fresh cherries...all are very low in calories and fill you up. If you slip, not to worry, just get right back at for your mest meal. Also, stick with MFP as it is very helpful and inspiring. Good luck, you can do it!0
