Arthritis and fitness

I have basically what looks like premature arthritis, probably osteo (although not 100% sure) in both my shoulder and now my neck. I'm only 42!!! Sigh.
Anyone else in the same boat? I used to love running and weightlifting, and now all I do is my recumbent bicycle and walking. Which is fine and works great - but doesn't seem to give me the same charge it used to.

I havent been officially diagnosed yet but my doc thinks I have some kind of arthritis too. I think its mainly in my feet but I have troubles with my neck, lower back and hips too. We are the same age. I walk and have just started doing a beginner weight workout0

I have psoriatic arthritis and I'm only 33 (diagnosed when I was only 31!)... It SUCKS. I was hoping to see someone with some advice/success story. My ego and inner self wants high impact routines like kickboxing or mma... I hate just working out to work out. I grew up in sports and martial arts, but now I'm in so much pain it makes it difficult.1

I have degenerative osteoarthritis in both of my big toe joints, my left shoulder and my tail bone.
The left shoulder prevents me from doing back stroke but not front crawl. So I swim. A lot. 4 miles a day 5 to 6 days a week. Plus weight room visits.
Spinning classes are also a great no impact workout. But I prefer swimming because the sweat wash is constant0 -

I'm probably one of the bigger success stories when it comes to autoimmune diseases and cancer. There is a way. Feel free to FR me.0 -
Yup, I'm 47 and have arthritis in my spine. I'm doing strength training, but just taking it slower than I would have otherwise. Main thing for me is proper form. Running, on the other hand, is a no go. Instead, I do rowing, elliptical, walk on the treadmill. I have a bathing suit (now) and bought 20 visits to the local pool, but haven't been able to get there yet. I do think exercise in a pool will be very beneficial.
Of course, I also use scads of Tylenol and use a heating pad on my back morning and night. I can't take anti-inflammatories because they hurt my stomach.
The thing is, we have to accept that we can't do everything we want to. It's not the end of the world. I've seen people in wheelchairs that are super ripped and in great shape. We may have to make some alterations to our routines, but building strength is going to help in the long run.
I've lost almost 80 lbs since Sept 1/15, by eating within calorie goals and doing strength training with low impact cardio1
