Determining pace

How do you determine the pace of your walk? I walked .64 miles in 10:18, 1333 steps. IPhone says I burned 85 calories. What would you say the pace is? Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

    About 16 minutes per mile.

You can use a pace calculator

It's not really HTTPS. I get certificate security warnings looking at it that way. Try it this way. This is one of my favorite for sure though.

If you want to go old school you can figure it out with math. First, divide your time by 60 minutes to get the "percentage of an hour" that you walked. 10 (and about a third of a minute)/60 = .1722. You take your distance (in miles) divided by the time (in hours) and you'll get your speed in mph.

    .64 miles/.1722 hours = 3.717 mph

Then, to figure out your pace PER MILE, divide 60 minutes by 3.717 mph and you get 16.14.

Pace = Duration/Distance, (where in running, pace is usually defined as a ratio of the number of minutes it takes to cover a mile or kilometer)
    First convert minute & seconds into decimals 10:18 = 10.3 minutes (10+18/60)
    Your pace is 10.3/0.64, or ~ 16.0938 minutes/mile

Use Runkeeper app (it's free) on your iPhone simultaneously - RK tells you pace, distance, speed, calories burned, etc.

Here is your equation and it's solved.

I use "Map My Walk," it will give you your pace average each mile. Also gives calories and steps. It is a great App!

I am using Map My Walk to map my walks but cannot exactly match calories burned to what Fitness Pal says. I find myself, just entering different walks from the menu until I find the closest calorie count to what Map My Walk shows and I am sure that is not the best way. Suggestions??

For example: I walked .91 miles in 9:34. The calorie count on Map My Walk is 174, so I entered a couple of walks at 10 minutes to get close to the calorie count. That is what I am interested in - the calorie count.

Map my Walk is likely massively over-estimating calorie burn unless you have 250lbs to lose. Running burns around 100 calories per 10mins, so walking would be around 75. These values would go up the heavier you are but 174 for less than 10mins walking is alot!

Thanks for that answer. I thought so too.
