I'm very new to detoxing, but have heard its many benefits. What do you do or have done before that has proven effective?

What are the benefits you've heard of and where did you hear of them?

    liver and kidneys FTW!
    Yep. :)

Honestly, there is no need as our bodies do a great job. If you're after an intestinal 'cleanse', just increase your fiber and water intake.

    1) drinking water
    2) nothing
    3) drinking black coffee (it produces that GI effect that some people seem to love so much for some ungodly reason)

Wait, you're not trying to recover from alcohol or opiate addiction?
Then you don't need a detox.

Its a marketing gimmick in the fitness industry. But if you really want to clean out, then i suggest haribo sugar free gummy bears. Lots of great reviews on amazon.

Oh my god, those reviews, it hurts. Hahahahahahaha. It reminds me of the Olean laden chips of yesteryear, only those provided backdoor oil slicks so bad that your soap would feel greasy. xD

In college biology, anatomy, and medical terminology they teach that "detoxing" is a bunch of BS. The intestines, liver, kidneys aren't clogged with toxins. If they were, you'd be dead. All detox products do is separate you from your money.

Haribo stopped making them because of the reviews. Lol. There are still other brands out there

When I hear "detox", I think scam and grab onto my wallet. The human body has this thing called the "liver" that handles the detox duty just fine.

My owners manual says my model year needs no added cleansing. Yours is probably a different year but I don't think its changed.

I heard which I don't know if it's true but if you were to do one day or like two days a week were you juice and it's like really healthy with greens and such that that helps a lot! I haven't done it my self because I have yet to get a juicer. But you could try it. But I'm no expert!

Some quality time on the toilet.

Maybe a shower, if you're feeling ambitious.

What exactly would that cleanse from your body that isn't already done?

As the others have mentioned, my body is perfectly capable of detoxing and cleansing all on its own. :)

Yes, "detox" is a pervasive scam. Your body detoxes itself, and if it ever stopped, you'd be in hospital very quickly. The only effective detox is kidney dialysis.

I think what's underlying the common stories of how "detoxes" work wonders is the fact that a lot of people eat overly rich food a lot of the time, not enough fruit and veg and upset their guts. A few days drinking water and eating your greens can work wonders for that, and make you feel like a miracle has happened. But it's nothing to do with "toxins", it's just giving your insides a rest. It happens to me yearly in early January!
