How much is a cup?

Sorry, this probably sounds really dumb but I'm in the UK and we don't use 'cups'.
Can someone tell me how much is in a cup... e.g. how many grams is a cup of rolled oats, or how many grams is a cup of peanut butter?
Thank you!

i don't know how many grams, but it's 8 oz.
  • Why don't you just use grams? Most foods in the MFP database DO have metric system measurements. :)

grams is weight, cup is volume.

A cup is 0.2366 liter (I am a nerd and have a conversion program), but probably a quarter liter would be a good estimate.

Try this link. It's pretty cool.

I had a couple of recipes but they are in cups so had no idea where to start! I do use grams for my MFP diary. :)

I came up with this problem when trying to add broccoli to my food diary. It's not as simple as doing a quick conversion, but I found a website that seems helpful:

I can now put x cups of broccoli then weigh it out in grams. Still would be nice to have stuff listed here in grams in the first place though!
