Blenders

I didn't know where to put this. I have a blender that's way too loud. I make a protein shake in the morning and it tends to wake people up. So I need something quieter. I know I could just cook, but I don't like to cook when I first wake up. So if you know of an inexpensive blender I can get at maybe walmart, target etc, that be awesome. :)

Could you use a stick blender? They're pretty quiet.

I personally don't think i'd every purchase an "inexpensive" blender. They leave chunks, can't blend veggies very well, are a pain to clean, burn out easily, aren't powerful enough, and are always the LOUDEST things ever.

If you want an awesome blender:
    http://www.blendtec.com/

The same ones they use at starbucks, on "will it blend", and can last for YEARS.

Are those the really slender blenders? Are they quieter?

I'll check it out. Unfortunately I'm on a bit of a budget so that's why I'm aiming for inexpensive ones.

Can you mix up your protein shake the night before or purchase shakes that are ready to drink?

We have a Ninja blender which we like, but it is pretty loud.

I could do it the night before but I'm afraid the ingredients would separate and it wouldn't taste the same. I don't like to buy premade shakes.

Pretty cheap, cheaper than a full sized blender.

I found a good one for around $50. But until I can get it I'll have to suck it up and try making my shakes the night before.

I got one of these. Very quiet and it makes it in the bottle ready for you to go

I make mine at night and in the am just give it a very quick 1 second whirl. Or I just shake it in the mixing cup.

If its that loud, put everything in the blender, plug it in outside and blend away. Then at least the noise is outside.

Is there such thing as a quiet blender? I have heard of people making their smoothies the night before. I haven't tried this myself.

Yeah they surprisingly exist. But they aren't cheap. They have what's called a blender shield around them to muffle the noise.

We own a blendtec which is awesome but I wouldn't put it in the quiet category...

Good to know. Not that I'd buy one anyways. They're pretty pricey. Nice but pricey.

I have a Kitchen Aid stick blender that I've used for years and it is holding up well. The stick blenders are pretty cheap.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking about getting. But is it really good at making protein shakes? Does it blend ice and everything good?

How do you clean stick blenders? They come apart so you can put it in the dishwasher or wash by hand, right? (I prefer dishwasher)

I don't know about protein shakes. I don't take a protein supplement. I don't chop ice with it but can't imagine it would be very good at that. I have used it to blend soups and fruits and things like that and it works well.

Ok good to know. I guess I'll have to find something else then.

I set my blender up on a little station in my garage so it's not so loud in the am. I just fill the container and take it out there to blend.

I also put my crock pot in the garage to cook durring the hot summer months so I don't heat up the house, lol. I guess I do a lot of garage cooking.

Literally rinse in water. I make veg soup and blend it. As soon as i'm done within 5 minutes the blender is washed and away!
