Question about calories in Chinese food.

Hi, so I bought this frozen version of Chinese sweet and sour chicken it came with about a cup of frozen tempura battered chicken like the sweet and sour chicken you get at a traditional Chinese restaurant.

So I cooked it up in the oven for 20 minutes and while its cooking you take the bag of sauce it comes with and put it in a bowl of hot water.

The sauce is like a thick wok sauce I tasted it and it wasn't that good so I just threw the sauce out lol

Ok so that's my question

The box says it's about 1260 calories for the chicken mixed up with the sauce

I ate the chicken and threw the sauce out so how many calories did I consume?

It wasn't a lot of food by any stretch of the imagination it was maybe 1/2 of the amount you would get in one of the little white containers maybe 1-2 cups

Thanks in advance

I'd err on the side of caution and just add in the full amount unless you know for sure what the individual counts are for all of the ingredients

I kinda feel like half the calories were from the sauce I mean it was a thick sweet sauce that I threw away

maybe, maybe not. if anything i'd say be safe and assume 25% of calories were from the sauce. i guess it all depends on how much of cushion you have with your calories and how close you are to your goal. miscounting 600s in a day could be a lot if you're close to you're goal and needing to count for every single grain or rice or bug that you accidentally swallow when you talk lol

So the sauce was probably mostly carbs. Look at the nutrition label, add (protein grams x 4) + (fat grams x 9) + (half carb grams x 4) = my best guess as to what the chicken would be without sauce
