Consider your calories as a rolling weekly allowance

If you've banked 500 calories in the last 6 days and eat 500 over on day 7 you're hitting your target

The tougher part is not allowing that 1 bad day to set you back. You have to start each day fresh not say, well I went over yesterday so it's OK to go over again today. I have been over more then I have been under so far but that's OK. Even eating over my daily calorie goal, I'm still usually consuming far less then I would have so it's a net positive.

What I mean is that my goal is 1200. I rarely make & usually drinking my calories is my downfall. However, I'm eating close to my calories & what I'm eating is more nutritious, instead of eating 2000 calories of junk food plus when I do drink it's about 1/2 of what I had been drinking or less so all in all it's better. Now I also exercise so that is a very good thing. Understand?

It really is about making better lifestyle choices not just short term weight loss.

It also depends a bit on what you ate that put you over. If it was something with a lot of sodium, as it often is when we're "bad", you might have your fat loss masked by water gain in the short term.

Im set at 1650. With a 2lb loss weekly. I do good mon -thursday being under 300+ calories then suppose to. But weekends come and sometimes go over. People say that those are extra calories to play with. But in my case..no weight loss for past 3 weeks..measure and weight food with scale... Doing domething wrong

If you have a 2500 calorie deficit over the course of 6 days, then a 500 calorie surplus on the 7th, that's the same as having a 2000 calorie deficit over those 7 days. In such a scenario, going over calories is fine that one day because you're ahead overall.

If you only have a 300 calorie deficit over the 6 days, then go over 500 the 7th, you'll gain weight overall.

Which are extra calories to play with? Do you mean that MFP has you at 1650 calories and you're regularly eating 1350 (300 calories under) and then eating those extra calories on the weekends? Ouch.

Since it's not working why not just try to stick to your 1650 calories per day for a few weeks instead of playing around with the numbers? I think for a lot of people that consistency is important, especially at first. It takes awhile to build good habits.

From the smartphone app, you can look at Nutrition from the side bar and go to calories and view by week. I often will do that when I've overindulged. Most of the time I'm happy to see that I'm still within budget for the week. This info is probably on the website under reports too, but I don't know the details of it.

1350 is below the minimum healthy calories for a man (1500 is minimum). What are your stats and how much weight do you have to lose? I'm just making sure 2 lbs per week is an appropriate weight loss goal for you. You are at a 7000 calorie deficit for the week eating at 1650. So if you go over 500 on the weekends, you will still theoretically lose 1.85 lbs. No need to go so low during the week.
