I just wanna say that the jury for the Casey Anthony trial has let down America! My heart is completely in pieces for Miss Caylee. May you rest in peace sweet girl and fly high with the angels! I did not know Casey personally, but I have a daughter that is around her age and I will NEVER understand how some one could KILL their own child! May you rot in hell Casey Anthony! You ARE a MURDERER!

I posted this in the 'Chit-Chat' forum. That is also why I entitled it the way I did. Some may agree, some may not. This is just my opinion. Sorry, but this definitely pulls at my heart!

Wow, this is the chit-chat section and the topic clearly states 'Non-MFP related'. If you don't want to read topics that aren't about fitness then you shouldn't have clicked on it.

Lol both of you calm yourselves. She can post what ever opinion she wants to. Since this is the "chit-chat, fun, and games" section. So if you don't want to read it hit the little red x in the corner.

to the OP: I completely agree D: it makes me sad someone can get away with something like that :(

wow did you both really just try to take away the freedom of someone else to voice an opinion that may or may not be the same as yours?
  • This is still America, we can post whatever we want. If you don't like it leave chit chat nobody is keeping you here except you.

This is the chit chat room, its meant to be a catch all and Casey Anthony is the news of the day that has shocked the world.
I can't believe that 12 free thinking people couldn't connect the dots. I'll go to my grave believing that she is guilty and I have watched the entire trial!

Being an Orlando resident, I have lived with this story for 3 years, my heart and the hearts of thousands of Orlando residents is broken for this little girl and I'm a big 350 pound dude. I

So it's ok to have 3 different "who here is single" threads...but we can't discuss a very serious trial?

    Boggles the mind.

I just wanted to say that I completely agree with you!!!

And I also agree with the above posts that disagree with your first 2 responses...SERIOUSLY PEOPLE??? I find that first comment especially funny since in the nutrition forum there is nothing but OPINIONS running around. People are very opinionated when it comes to all the fad diets they love and loathe, yet they are discussed as medical science fact.

If you don't want to read something that is not related to MFP, why the hell would you click on the topic titled "NON-MFP RELATED???"

Actually, it's not America, it's the internet.... remember that whole "world-wide"-web concept?
There's lots of us on here who don't live in the US of A.
And you can post anything you want as long as it's not about politics or religion or is offensive... there are some rules but I don't think this topic is breaching them, as I don't know about this case, I can't judge.

Anyway, feel free to chit chat, it's a change from "should I eat my exercise calories"
  • Where I live its Morning in America, and If I want to post something political, or about religion then by God I will do it and my 1st amendment gives me the right.

There are already enough threads about, Help me I skipped breakfast, "I think I am in starvation mode", or how do I get rid of my stretch marks,or my boobs are shrinking and I'm depressed and should I eat my exercise calories. OH PLEASE some folks need to get a life and have some common sense!

Hey! This is the "Chit-Chat, Fun, and Games" Forum. Just about anything goes. The gal that posted this had that right. If you don't want to deal with non-fitness related topics, stay off this forum, but don't attack those that have posted topics that you don't agree with.

Actually, if I'm remembering correctly, this isn't really correct. The 1st amendment keeps the government from impeding the free exercise of religion, but MFP being a private, commercial venture isn't bound by it. If they really wanted to, they could say no religion, no politics, and all posts must be written in pig-latin.

I must add that it's not the jury's fault. They didn't have sufficient evidence to convict. The prosecution was riddled with holes and the defense just picked it apart. Emotions may run rampant and she may have very well killed her child but you have to prove it. Such goes the saying "Innocent until proven guilty.". Emotions don't win court cases, evidence does. Please don't hate the jury, hate Casey anthony.

That being said, a monkey could have figured out that she did it.

YES, what Roy said. The jury did the job they were asked to do - and I cannot fault them for it. Being on a jury is not as easy as making one yes or no decision, and they are not just asked one question. I've been on a jury before, for a far less high profile case of course, but the process is still the same.

There was simply not enough evidence, and with even a hint of reasonable doubt, the jury could not convict her.

Agreed though, I think she did it. But I'm not the judge or jury here, none of us are, so it doesn't really matter what I think.

The standard of proof required in a criminal trial is "beyond reasonable doubt". It requires very strong evidence to achieve that. If the evidence is not strong enough then no matter what the emotions are surrounding the trial, the jury is obliged to acquit the defendant.

From my understanding, this is what happened here. The evidence was not strong enough.

And I do agree with you! Many cases have been won over circumstantial evidence. I just hate that justice will not be served for Caylee. I do have children her age and I cannot get over how someone would even CONSIDER to do this to a child - let alone their own! Even if she is innocent, I still belive someone in her family knows what exactly happen to that poor little girl. It just weighs heavy on my heart.
  • Living in Orlando as I do, we citizens have lived day and night with case for the last 3 years. What happened to Caylee was a tragedy and take it from someone who watched the whole trial. Casey is a stone cold killer who lied and got away with everything.

Smittyinthesun: reading your responses to this has made my day!

I totally agree that justice was not served for poor Caylee. I have a one year old and I am so very disappointed in how this turned out. But I also agree that it's not the jury's fault. The prosecution did not do their job well enough for them to convict. I'm sure every single one of them knows in their heart that she did it but because the evidence was not strong enough they couldn't convict. I am thankful I am not one of those jurors because I am also sure that every single one of them is devastated. I can't imagine living the rest of my life with that in the back of my mind.

Also, just want to comment how sad I am in general about how many children everyday are harmed by adults who are supposed to be caring for them. I've read several news articles recently on this and am just appalled that anyone would harm a child on purpose.
  • I'm glad to see you finally started getting some support. It bugged me all day that they were such jerks to you, I couldnt wait to get home from work and see how this turned out.
