How do I find the motivation?

I have been overweight my entire life so losing weight and looking good are a mere myth. How do i find the motivation and confidense to do this?

Every single choice you make will put you moving in the right direction. Make ONE good choice. Then make a second one. Before you know it, you'll be on your way!0

Don't think about it as a diet or anything like that. Just a life style change to a healthier you. Come here often for motivation tips and just read some blogs ;0)!!0

For me it was getting on the scale and reading a number i just wasn't happy with, others it's a picture, or dress shopping, or something like that that just sets them over the edge to where you just click in your head and say, i have to do this, no questions asked.0

Like the wise Heather said. Just, start. Take it one day, hour ,minute or second at a time. Just keep moving forward. Make some friends who motivate and encourage you when needed. Find something or someone who inspires you and just keep going. Don't worry about speed, you have the rest of your life to live. Now go do it!!0

I have found that YOU have to want it...you have to want to change your life. I am not necessarily overweight (at my heaviest 160 and I am 5'4") but I would get annoyed when I would try on a size 12 and it would fit but I never really got serious about wanting to change until one moment it just hit me that I wanted to be healthy for my kids. I wanted to fit in the size 8 jeans in my closet, I wanted to feel better about myself. That was my moment of motivation and when I decided to change. But honestly no one can tell you how to get motivated...YOU have to decide that you want to get healthy and make your life better.

It has to come from within you. Outside influences as to how you are supposed to look mean nothing in the long run. Do it because you want to treat yourself the way you deserve to be treated. Like a car fanatic might treat a nice car. You wash it, you maintain it's engine, you give it good quality oils and gas so that it will last as long as possible. Granted, we are all work cars, as well.... but that doesn't mean you have to drive like a maniac on the highway. If you want a car to last a long time, you are gentle with it and you give it what it needs. Same thing with our bodies. It needs good nutrition, it needs exercise, and it needs us to love it. It's carried us this far in life, it deserves to be honored and respected.0

The hardest part is indeed starting...I am gong to do the turbo fire program, but I don't know when to start. I close work tonight (at a daycare at 6:30) and am tired when I get home...Should I force myself to do it tonight? Or do it early morning?0

Start tonight! Just force yourself to do it, you'll feel so much better once you do. And that first work out will be motivating. Even if you struggle to get through it, just keep moving until it's over. You CAN do it, and you are worth it!0

Break it up into shorter goals.
To use an analogy, I love trail running now. I can zip up the side of a mountain (ok, large hill) and not even feel like it's an incline. But put me on a street running up the same incline, and I get overwhelmed. What's the difference? When I'm on a trail, I'm looking at the ground right in front of me, being careful not to trip on a rock or exposed tree root. When I'm on the road, all I see is a never-ending uphill climb in front of me.
So don't look at it from the point of view of "I gotta lose 40 pounds." Think, "I'm going to lose five pounds, and I'm going to feel better. I'm going to be healthier, and stronger. My clothes will fit better and begin to get too big for me." Then think the same thing for the next five pounds, and the next and the next. Keep your eye on the immediate goal, not the uphill climb.0 -

Tonight! If you're anything like me, it's super easy to say "tomorrow." Well, 10 years of "tomorrow" is what got me to where I am now. Gotta start TODAY!

Thanks. I should probably stop looking at it like 50 pounds then huh? I'm just disappointed with myself for gaining so much weight. =( But you are right! Small increments are better.0 -
I've got some silly things that I think about when I don't want to eat right and when I don't want to run.
1. Watch Silence of the Lambs. I watch it when I want to just EAT for days and it helps because the guy is kidnapping larger women to use to make a skin suit. Gross and creepy but when I get thin/fit he won't be hunting me down to use as a skin suit...(Silence of the Lambs is also why I'm super polite to strangers- Hannibal only ever eats rude people...)
2. I watch Supernatural. I can't tell you how many times I've wanted to cancel a run or not run the full thing and just do a mile. When I hit "I'm done wall" that I think to mysely, 'You've got to be able to out run the Monster of the Week, you've got to keep up with Sam and Dean or you'll get them killed..." It's the superficial that makes me giggle and go longer.
3. I facebook, tweet (?), and Pin about my running, there are people all over that ask me about it, not to mention my boss asks regularly because I use the office gym.
What really matters, what will actually help you on this journey though, isn't the tricks, I created tricks because I wanted to be healthy and fit. I wanted to make sure I didn't quit early, so I made it fun. You've got to be in it for a reason, a reason that shakes you to your core, that's where motivation comes from.0
