Best. Thing. Ever. - food discoveries.

I feel like sharing my food discoveries - convenient, healthy things that make it easy for me to stick to my plan.

First is Wholly Guacamole 100 calorie packs. Getting healthy fat makes a big difference for me, so I love that! No more buying avocados and hoping they will ripen, nearly severing my hands trying to cut them open and get the pits out, and dealing with browning leftovers!

Second is Starkist Seasations - white fish filet with tomato basil sauce. 90 calories, healthy protein, and I eat it for lunch with a big pile of Steamfresh green beans! Yum.

What are your food discoveries??

You find avocados hard to open and ripen? I could probably open an avocado in my sleep and a little lemon juice keeps them nice and green.

I buy "good" junk food for dessert so I have better choices on hand. For example, I get weight watchers ice cream bars or skinny cow ice cream sandwiches. So when I crave something sweet, I can have it and not ingest something really bad for me. :)

I LOVE peanut butter, but I don't love all the calories/fat. I literally eat it everyday, mostly out of the jar with a spoon and just two tablespoons=190 calories! I found Better N Peanut Butter and it is soooooo good and has half the calories and half the fat!!! I recommend it to all peanut butter lovers like me!

Have you tried PB2 or another powdered peanut butter? From what I've read Better N Peanut Butter (according to some people) tastes better but it has a lot of chemicals and weird ingredients whereas the powered pb is just peanuts, sugar and salt. Something to consider if you're concerned about ingredients. I like the taste of PB2, it's like natural pb just much less oily. Not as strong either.

I love roasted & salted soynuts. I literally snack on them all day! 3 TBS only has 140 cals & they're addictive!

I also love Wal Mart's Great Value Frozen Wild Salmon filets. Very low-cal. VERY good for you too. I sprinkle a little cayenne, dill weed, and salt on them, put lemon slices on top of them, wrap in a tin foil pouch & bake for about 1- min. So delicious.

    Think thin bars
Edy's Orange and Cream juice bar (tastes JUSt like ice cream, but much lower in sugar, fat, and cals)
Nature's Own Sugar Free bread (all natural)
Applgegate products (all natural, frequently organic, no preservatives or hormones, all animals humanely raised)
B Fresh energy mints (insta shot of B12, no sugar)

Arctic Zero ice cream! It's only 150 calories a pint, gluten free, and lactose intolerant friendly. Pricey, but so worth the splurge for me.
Calbree snap peas crisps as an alternative to chips.
    Kroger CarbMaster yogurt
    Sugar-free jello
Jif On-the-Go peanut butter cups - very convenient.

I've only found them at Whole Foods. But Akin's carries the line, maybe they can order them. Seriously, I buy like 4 boxes at a time!

You find avocados hard to open and ripen? I could probably open an avocado in my sleep and a little lemon juice keeps them nice and green.

Also if you leave the nut in the half you aren't going to eat it helps keep it freash. (That goes for home made guac too! Just pop the nut in the middle of the bowl and cover with press and seal.) I love avacado!

I LOVE power crunch bars, Lara bars! The bees knees peanut butter! Seriously! Whipped natural peanut butter with honey! 180cal for 2 tbls. AH-mazing! My daughters can't get enough!

The key to finding a ripe avocado is...

Make a muscle with your bicep... Feel the firmness. Look for that when you check avocados at the store! It has never let me down. As for the pits... I wedge a spoon under them and they pop out! The brown tastes just as good as the green...

I'm all for the healthy version of something not so healthy. I've found quite a few good ones. :)

Ball Park Fat Free Franks - 50 calories per frank and they taste exactly like a full-fat hot dog!
Thomas Bagel Thins - 110 Calories. Really good with a tbsp of peanut butter, cream cheese, or fruit spread. 6 grams of fiber too!
Polaner Blueberry Fruit Spread Plus Fiber - 30 calories per 1 tbsp, 3 grams of fiber! Also comes in other Sugar Free fruits, no blueberry though.
90 Calorie Fiber One Brownies and Granola Bars - 90 calories for something this good should be ILLEGAL.
Vintage Fruit Refreshers Naturually Flavored Beverages - 0 calories, 0 carbs, 0 sugar and tastes sooo good! There's cherry limeade, lemonade, cranberry, pomegranate berry and peach citrus.
Dannon Light N Fit Yogurt - 80 calories and yummy flavors! Try the lime flavor. It tastes EXACTLY like key lime pie. :)

I tried the Smart Ones desserts once too. Not too bad for 130 + calories.
