I put in alot of miles... and I was sticking to the about every 200 miles. I could feel increase hip and knee pain when it was time to change. Now I am perplexed...
I got my current shoes in mid May ... since then I have put on about 160 miles I think.
When I bought the shoes, everything was fine. No foot pain, knee pain, or anything else...
About 1 week ago ... I started having horrible R foot pain that lasts until about mile 2 ... it happens on every single run.
I looked at my shoes ... they are worn ... the soles and the stability instep has cracks in it...
But it hasnt even been close to 150 miles... so how is this possible
(PS. I am a fat runner... currently weighing about 240 pounds)
Anyone have any ideas?

Shoes usually last 300-500 miles.
You should probably be replacing the shoes.
I would complain to either the store you bought them at, or possibly the manufacturer. Sometimes, they do nice things for customers... especially if these are the same brand and type of shoes that you have worn in the past. If not, then perhaps you bought a less durable brand of shoe this time.
Shoes go bad for a variety of reasons. What temp are they kept in normally? Is it pretty hot? Have you put them through the washer or drier. Sometimes, that can do it.0 -
My question is also, what brand are these? Out of both my and my husband's shoes, I've never seen cracks in them. I'm pretty petite, but my husband was overweight.0

I try to replace mine every 3-4 months because I can feel it in my knees when I don't. You've been putting a lot of miles in and I wouldn't be surprised if you're wearing your shoes out faster. What brand are you buying? Have you been fitted at a running store that knows how to look for gait problems? The better quality shoes should last a bit longer.0

My stupid shoes are Saucony Omnis... fitted at a running store and NOT cheap ... I am going to take them out there tomorrow. I know the people out there really well.... and Im pretty sure I can get an honest answer!0 -

Heavier runners don't usually get 300 miles out of their shoes, so I'm not surprised that you only get 160.
If this pair died in record time though, consider your running surface. Shoes will die a lot more quickly on harder surfaces, so if you've gone from the treadmill to outdoors for example, expect them to wear more quickly. I switched from asphalt to concrete and was going through shoes in record time and it took me awhile to make the connection. The running store guys were all saying "OF COURSE!" LOL
If you use your shoes for activities other than running, especially for activities that demand lateral stability (aerobics classes, tennis, basketball, trail running, etc.) you will wear them out very quickly as they are not designed for lateral stability.0 -
take them back..that sounds like atypical wear...you are putting the miles on so they won't last as many weeks but they should last as many miles...does that make sense? I seldomly get 300-500 miles out of my shoes...around 250-275 things start to "speak" to me so I replace...I do a few short runs in the new shoes...wear the old ones for one more long run then do a full switch. Sounds like you got a bad pair...0

same brand/model? I use Brooks Beast and they have changed a bit from the model I had earlier, 6 months ago, to the current ones I use now. alot of shoe companies tweak and change things year by year.0

Different model ... I was originally in the Saucony Omni in 2010 and had those for 2 pairs and then when they updated the model I hated them so I went with Brooks Adrenaline ... and then when those wore out I was back to the Saucony because they redid the model.
I was wearing them for one aerobics class ... I have not changed my surface much. I despise the treadmill so I have been running outside... the only thing I have changed is I run ALOT more hills!0
