Is it possible to run with large breasts?

I am about a 38 DD or DDD depending, not absolutely huge but big enough where most sports bras don't come in my size in stores and the rare bra I find I have to double with another bra and it ends up being so tight that I am in pain and can't breath. I have gotten so I will leave everything unhooked and then right before running on the treadmill I hook the the hundreds of hooks to seal everything. But after a few minutes I'm just so out of breath and have to unhook everything. I'm 195 lb. now. I was 240. I'm just wondering how much more weight I have to lose before I can properly do a set of cardio. I really want to learn to be a runner. It's just so frustrating knowing I have to lose a lot more weight to be able to exercise and lose weight. Does anyone have a solution (I really don't have hundreds of extra dollars to spend on more bras that will fit for a few months) to doing cardio that won't hurt the breasts so much? Or some wrap or some way to hold the boobs down while jogging?

How about cycling? Elliptical trainer? Would be a great substitute.

You just need a good sports bra. Some people wear it over a normal bra for extra support. I started running when I was a G cup. They can be expensive, but they're worth it. Go to a specialist lingerie shop.

Yeah sounds like you're in the wrong size bra... it should be tight but not trying to kill you!

I'm 36E and run perfectly fine!
Try Shock Absorber they have big sizes (up to G), you just have to get it a size bigger than your normal bra. For example I get 36F instead of 36E ad fits perfectly. First time I bought one I made the mistake of buying it the same size with my normal bras and had the same problem with you, it was too tight and after a few minutes I could not breathe. The level 4 bras for high intensity exercises are fantastic!

i'm also a big size, bigger than you and what i do when i run, is wear my regular bra, on top of that a tank top with a built in bra, and then a t-shirt. i have no problems at all with the boobs. not hurting or feeling uncomfortable.

Do you also have to go up a cup size from what you normally wear with this company?

Just a question: did you ever have a bra fitted in a store? This might be an eye opener as many people wear the wrong size bras (too small). Often the shape is not right for the specific person either. Do you have a proper store around where you can get measured and fitted a perfect bra, and then go from there to a sports bra?

I totally hear you! I wear two sports bra's usually...or if it's close to TOM, two sports bra's and a regular bra to hold 'em down...but I'm not quite as big as you. I just can't stand them bouncing when I run, it hurts!

yep, I was an idiot for several years when I bought my own size and just "went with it" because I thought thats how sports bra are meant to be; suffocating, in order to keep them put.
Only one day I decided to try out a size above and well, it was the best decision I ever made. Seriously, comfortable and still supportive.

    I highly recommend this brand

I've bought my last 2 sports bras from Lane Bryant and they're great. Make sure you look for one that's high impact since not all sports bras are created equal. I'm about a 40D and the ladies don't move at all during a run. They also have much larger sizes, which are generally easier to find than the more common sizes since the more common sizes sell out faster. The only problem I have is that, to get the security of the boobs, it can make getting in and out of the darn thing insanely difficult. That's where I really see the benefits of my yoga practice LOL

I lost 40lbs. walking at a very fast pace half hr. to 45min. everyday. You are still moving the same amount of weight so your leg muscles are burning fat. As you drop more weight maybe you can use just use one. Your body will not be in a up and down impact. Giving you the breathing room you may need.

I'm a 38GG and my CW is 216. I started running at about 240. The right bra makes all the difference in the world. I use a Panache underwire sports bra and the fit is amazing and it's also the most comfortable bra I own. It is worth EVERY PENNY.

I agree with what everyone says here.. You just need to find a good sports bra.. As you continue to loose weight, your boobies will too and it will get easier to find sports bras that fit. Until then, if you have to wrap those puppies up, don't be afraid to do it. I have done it when i am on my period and they are sore and it works great.

    Good luck to ya!

I have to agree - get fitted for a good sports bra. you'd be surprised what you need. It's not just about size - different styles fit people differently. I have one that can be adjusted so it will fit for a while even I lose weight.

I think you are like a lot of women in North America, that the largest size available in the stores is DD or DDD, when you are probably not that at all. Do yourself a favor and get fitted at a specialty store. I used to buy a bigger band size than I needed and would get a DDD bra off the rack. I was actually a 34G. Now after kids I'm a 36K and I run. Really slow and miserably, but I run.

Glamorise, Panache, Goddess, Lynx all sell excellent sports bra in larger cup sizes. Invest in one, I know that without reduction surgery I will never be able to buy at a store, but I've been so so much happier since I figured out where to get these things online.

Herroom.com has excellent instructions on how to find your proper bra size and compares US and UK sizes and brand sizes. Once you know what you wear, you should be able to find your size in any brand.
