How do you eat your oatmeal?

I am attempting to eat mine this morning and struggling...
I have some blueberries, cinnamon, and butter. It's not good. In any way.
What is a way to make it better, while keeping it healthy?

I add protein powder to mine. Currently I am using Quest salted caramel flavor and it's freaking good.5

Good question! This morning I tried to make mine like McDonald's with apples, raisins, cinnamon & nutmeg . . . didn't taste the same1

Why eat oatmeal if you don't like it?
One of the changes that I've made is that I don't waste my calories eating things that I don't like.
Is there some food that will fill the roll that oatmeal does in your diet that you would rather eat instead?13 -
I get the 100 calorie packs of brown sugar cinnamon. I add a tbsp. of light butter. extra cinnamon and some extra truvia brown sugar. (only 5 calories per tsp). I sometimes add a spoonful of splenda to sweeten it more. I don't like fruit in mine. If I have room I will have a piece of toast and light butter with it also. I love my oatmeal!
If I don't have room for the extra fat from the butter, I will eat the same oatmeal packet with some splenda in it, and a few Lilys diet chocolate chips.3 -
I could only get half of it down. The fruit did sweeten it a little, but not much.
Apple and cinnamon sound pretty good too!1 -

Mixed with butter, brown sugar, flour on top of blueberries and baked into a Crisp3

Sweet, savory, cold with yogurt (overnight oatmeal) or blended into a smoothie......different methods worth pursuing.
Sweet (for me). I like steel cut oats + PB2 + maple syrup. I always cook my oats with a dash of salt. Unsalted oatmeal just has a weird taste to me.
Or steel cut oats + pumpkin puree + cinnamon + stevia + a splash of milk

Why eat oatmeal if you don't like it?

I haven't eaten much oatmeal in my life. I read that I was good for you and thought I would give it a try. But wanted to see if there were other ways of making it before I gave up on the whole idea of it.
Today was my first attempt. I do feel quite full, despite only eating half of the serving.
As far as other foods, I'm not big on eggs, they smell bad to me, and cereal never tasted good, except the apple cinnamon Cheerios. I don't know what else I can do for breakfast. Usually I just have a cup of coffee and call it good.

You don't have to eat breakfast if you don't want to.3 -
I really want to like oatmeal, but can't get it near my face long enough to taste it! The sight and smell undo me!0

I didn't start liking oatmeal until I started using the steel cut oat. I cook a big batch, add whatever fruit you want to it. Let it cool and then refrigerate. The next morning I spoon some into a bowl heat it and the add a few scoops of Vanilla Greek yogurt!!! Mmmmmm so good!!2

I actually eat mine with a spoonful of honey peanut butter. It's really filling and adds a little sweetness also.4

I take mine with some banana chopped up on top and a tablespoon of almond butter. Other times I add a 2-3 teaspoons of brown sugar. Strawberries and banana are another good combination of toppings to me. For whatever reason I was disappointed in blueberries on oatmeal, though I love them.
Perhaps it will grow on you. There are some variations in oatmeal so perhaps try different types.2 -
Quite watery with honey. It's basically like a thick, hot honey drink. Unsurprisingly, I "eat" it from a mug.0

I eat a few variations. Maple Syrup is a great sweetener with flaked coconut and black berries on top. Or I'll do banana on top and mix in some PB2. You can also make it more like dessert and add chocolate chips and strawberries on top (not as healthy though). Adding cinnamon or vanilla while they are cooking is really the key though. It soaks into the oats so they taste less plain compared to the toppings.2

Seriously though, I have to put one TBLSP of PB2, sliced banana and 5 chocolate chips. Any more chocolate than that, it becomes a blobby mess, but just a small amount, stirred until melted, literally make it taste like I'm eating a gooey cookie in the morning.4 -
I find that if you make it with almond milk instead of water, it makes a HUGE difference in taste and a small difference in calories. I eat mine just made with almond milk and cinnamon. It's great with almond butter and banana too!6

Agreed on cooking. I was going to ask what kind of oats are you using, and how are you making it? Stovetop or overnight are gads better, and using steel cut or scottish yields a nice texture. I cook mine with almond milk and always add in different spices (ginger, cinnamon, vanilla, etc) while it cooks. Top with fav fruits and drizzle of honey if you like it sweet!1 -
I used to mix steel cut oats and quinoa, it would have a slightly nuttier flavor and a bit more texture. I'd mix in a bit of protein powder and yogurt as well.
I switched things up a bit ago and started having muesli (which is oats mixed with nuts, seeds, raisins and dates) mixed with yogurt and protein powder, let it sit overnight.
Both are very tasty, but like someone else said, if you don't like oatmeal, there's no rule saying you can't do something else for breakfast0 -
I use one packet of Quaker Weight Control oatmeal (less sugar) and one packet of Quaker plain oatmeal together with water. Throw in some dried cranberries (Great Value brand) that I keep in the freezer. Sometimes I'll throw in some walnuts for crunch. No fancy ingredients.1

I like it with just blueberries, raspberries, or strawberries and maybe some milk (or coconut/cashew/almond milk), so we just may have different tastes, but what I like (beyond that): vanilla protein powder (with the berries or banana), or (new discovery) that powdered peanut stuff -- PB2 or one of the other similar brands. Hemp hearts or flax seeds add a bit of additional texture, as do walnuts or chopped almonds. Dried cherries are great, but kind of high sugar if that's an issue (they usually add some if you don't make them yourself -- then again, if you want it sweeter anyway!). Finally, I greatly prefer the texture of steel cut and find it tastes as good sweet, savory, or just as plain as possible (oatmeal + milk).1
