Managing cravings

How do you manage or curb your junk food cravings?
Ex. I have to have a can of Coke everyday, BUT I've managed to spread that one Coke can in two days.
So again, how do you manage your cravings?

I have replaced "junk" with a variety of delicious, normal foods, planned, looked forward to and eaten at regular intervals. Others are using other strategies.

No HAS TO have a can of Coke. Nothing wrong with a can of Coke, I'm just challenging your use of absolutes.

I don't drink Coke very often any more, I think I've had one in the last six/eight months - and I liked it, but it's not a have-to.

There are many foods I love that I won't ever cut out completely, and I still have them. The way you are budgeting your Coke is a really good way to learn how to deal with lots of different foods.

I don't regularly buy things that I tend to binge on - and the list is long! I make that decision in the grocery store. :)

I don't really crave "junk" all of the time...if I feel like having a coke I have a coke...I drink maybe two or three in a month...I don't even know if it qualifies as a craving...more like I feel like a coke and a smile today.

If I feel like pizza I go for pizza...we usually go out for pizza one or twice per month. I don't really keep things like potato chips and the like in the house...I enjoy them but we tend to have them as something special when we're camping and whatnot.

I really enjoy and tend to crave high quality foods...right now I'm craving some grilled salmon...but I've also been at this for over four years now.

I find satisfying foods that are more nutritious. Honestly... I don't crave junk food much anymore. When I do, I have it though. I just make it fit.

I don't crave junk food either. I've smelt fish n chips when walking past a shop and thought mmm that smells nice I could eat that, but I've not craved anything like I've got to have it now. I just eat foods I enjoy and love eating every day.

I don't particularly crave junk food. I occasionally have cravings for a variety of foods (not primarily "junk") and I satisfy them or not, or sometimes just decide to hold off and work it in later in the week or some such.

I do find that I'm more likely to crave foods that I've been eating more regularly, that I've not had for a while but have specific plans to have at a future date (i.e., lamb after giving up meat for Lent), and at times I'm used to eating. I also tend to crave higher cal/fattier/easy dinners (like Indian take-out) if I have let myself get too tired and hungry. In those cases just eating something else usually takes care of it.

Thanks for your helpful insight. And I'm with you, I don't think I'll every cut out certain foods or drinks completely, rather control my cravings. A bite here and there a drink from time to time. But not a complete stop. I've noticed when I've done that in the past, I failed at losing weight. This time i plan out my bfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. I also try not to count calories too much and I also watch for carbs, fats and SODIUM. Omg the sodium is particular hard for me.

No chips in the house!?... that would be a hard thing to do around here. BUT the chips are usually for my husbands lunch and I've cut down drastically. I used to eat salt n vinegar chips, but stopped buying them. Too much swelling going on...duh....

The way I deal with other peoples' stuff in the house is I tell myself, "It's not yours."

    Sometimes that even works.

How long did it take you not to crave junk food as much? Cause I just started this new eating style. I still eat what I want, but this time I try really hard to control it. It seems I've gone from buying big bags of cookies, crackers and have started buying individually packed cookies, crackers. And I'm left satisfied. But still craving them. So how long did it take you to really take control?
