Losing Motivation now! I thought I would have lost 5 pounds! That was my 2 month goal! 5 Measssssssly pounds!! And I haven't lost not 1! Can any of you guys relate to this and if so can you tell me about your story? And if you continuted to do the same thing or changed up your program. And if you stuck it through and headed towards 3 months, did you see any weight loss then?
My Story:::So, I completed 2 months of exercise. First 4 weeks doing 30 day shred about 4-5 days a week and doing 30 minutes of Turbo Jam also 5 days a week. Last 4 weeks, I uped the ante, doing 4-5 days a week of 30 day shred, (i started off on level 1 in the first month and now I am at level 3 (I've gotten stronger for sure) and doing 40 minutes of cardio 5 days a week. I've been watching watch I've been eating and trying to avoid junk food and I actually haven't been drinkin beer like every weekend like I used to before I started working out. I do have my weak moments though and have some cookies or cake.
My food Diary is open for those who wanna check it out! You'll see last night I had 3 beer and then got the munchies when I came home and indulge in a kinder surprise and some cookies! hehe But other than that I think my eating is ok. Let me know!!
Thanks for all your help and motivation! Big hugs!

When you are talking about losing "the last 10lb" (in your case 8lbs), the scale is MUCH slower to move! When you have lots of body fat, it comes of easier. When you don't have as much to lose, your body tries to hang on to it with all its might! You have to be patient and consistent! It's more important at this stage to make sure you are eating enough and not at too big of a deficit. Your body has to know you are going to give it the fuel it needs and then it will feel comfortable letting go of some more fat!
Edit to add: eating clean is important here too! Watch your sugar and sodium intake and try to eat lots of veggies, lean protein, and whole grain carbs.0 -
Going back just one week, I'd say you're not eating enough calories. However, you should start tracking sodium. I think a couple things you are eating have alot of sodium in them. Hope this helps some.0

There's not much in the way of veggies, and you're eating way too much sugar. You have to eat right along with working out.0

I have heard it is harder for someone to lose a small bit of weight then a larger person looking to lose more??
have you taken measurements? it could be your exercising is taking inches rather than lbs... I have only lost like 1 lb within the past 3 weeks, but i have continued to lose inches. I know my body will catch up.
have you looked at your sodium intake? i was eating way too much and didnt realize it.0 -
I felt that way for a while. I've been trying to lose since April 2011, and my weight didn't budge for the LONGEST time, then it suddenly dropped 2 pounds here, 3 pounds there, and now I'm down about 12 total. Because my weight was stuck for a few weeks, I got really upset -- all this dieting and exercise and NO loss?! what kinda crap is this?!
I just looked at your most recent food diary, and you may want to consider eating smaller meals more frequently. I try to eat every 3-4 hours or whenever I get hungry, that way I don't wait until I'm starving and ready to eat the entire fridge (doors and shelves included!)
I've been watching what I eat reaallly carefully, I try to log everything, except when I get drunk and forgot! Drinking is definitely what is holding me back -- when I get drunk, I want to snack ... not to mention all the calories in alcohol! I found a really good cake-flavored vodka by the Pinnacle brand, I put that in diet soda and it helps with both my cravings for sweets and alcohol, but it's still technically bad for dieting because alcohol slows down metabolism.
I'm really trying to stay positive and keep in mind that it took me YEARS to gain this weight ... hopefully it won't take that long to lose it!
Stay strong & keep trying0 -
Hi there ... I'm using MFP from April I think. I'm not very regular my longest period of logging is one month and I think added together my gaps are 1 month too. I m not very regular and besides I don t have a 'diet' .
I lost like 4 pounds and put it all back in the last 2 months when I had exams, vacation, didn t go to gym etc so now I m at the beginning again. So ... same here ... . My problem is I started exercising a lot and then I got injured in one of my legs and I m not completely recovered yet.
What I plan to do ? well ... if I give it up if I loose my motivation I see myself in few years fatter and more unhappy than now, if I keep on hoping and trying I ll only be better even if is 2 3 pounds . So ,,, how do u want to see yourself in the future ? ...
If you didn t lost it means u did something wrong, either the exercising/food is somehow more or less than journal shows u or the diet u adopted doesn't suit your metabolism ( is either too low or too high or based on the wrong thing).
Don't give up , for sure u might have also gained muscular mass and as a result your weight is the same but instead of fat u put muscles and they weight much more ... Girl , if u re able to do the 30day shred 4-5 days a week u re not bad and is impossible to not have got changes , keep on going !0 -
what/how much are you eating. You are exercising alot and your body may feel it's in starvation mode. so you can actually not lose any weight since it'll hold on to anything you do eat. Have you noticed any changes in measurements? the scale is only PART of the story. Most cases, it's the worst indication of what's going on with your body0

I would agree with the sodium intake....if I eat any processed/frozen meals I retain water like nobody's business and it shows on the scale. But you are working out and you could be losing inches instead of pounds.0

I have to agree on the sugar, I think you should try some cleaner foods for a couple of weeks before giving up, switch to more fruits and veggies and lean meats. It's amazing what eating veggies for a week will do.0

Lower your carbs and eat way more veggies. Higher your protein.0

YES! Ok. Sorry. I have been using MFP for a little over 2 months. But the past two months with a fair amount of consistency (although I logged a weekend late - boo). I haven't lost any. I lost two pounds awhile back, but it came back...water weight or something. I have marked that I am trying to lose 25 pounds, but actually only really need to lose 15 to be happy. And I realize that 15 pounds (or 8 in your case) is WAY harder to lose than those who need to lose a lot more.
I am in the same boat with the drinking. We like to drink. But I am trying to do my best to at least cut back. I stay on track otherwise, so I am sure my drinking is the #1 factor in my lack of success.
I don't have any big tips, since I am obviously in a similar boat. But, my mentality, I don't want to give up. Because then, months from now....instead of 15 pounds it WILL be 25 that I need to lose. Then a year from now 50...in other words, at least what I am doing is keeping me in shape and keeping me from gaining. And all I can do is keep trying -- continue cutting back on things I know slow my progress, keep working hard....and hopefully I will meet my goal. Again, worse case, at least I know I am being healthier than I was!0 -
Looking at your diary I'd be inclined to think that you're eating lots of big meals (one big meal at lunch and one at dinner) and quite a lot of sugar. I know you're exercising but I would be inclined, as others have said, to eat a lot more fresh food and less processed.
Also, on one of your diaries I noticed that you had 7 mussels in garlic butter and it had logged at 56 calories...I wonder if that's right as I'd be inclined to think that anything (even something like mussels) in butter would be more than that...? Are you logging all the food correctly? Otherwise you could be eating more calories than you think you are?
You should keep at it though, as everyone else has said, you could be losing inches and the weight will follow xx0 -
I've had the same problem (although I have about 60 lbs to lose, not 8) the last few months. I've looked at my diet and one thing I think is that I'm having too much sodium (I have about 1000 mg over the recommended daily intake) which would explain why my weight fluctuates within a 3 lb range daily...too much water retention!
I haven't looked over your diary, but I've read what some other ppl are saying and it confirmed that you probably aren't eating enough calories. Here's my story: I was losing a consistent 2.5 lbs per week when I set MFP for a 1 lb/week loss! SO i was losing over double what I thought I would lose on a daily basis! I always eat back all of my exercise calories too. At a certain point I decided to amp it up a bit and set it for a 2 lb/week loss and that's when my weight loss stopped...I was like "WTF?!" I didn't actually put it all together until recently. So, I jumped my intake back up to be 1 lb/week (so 1500 cals for me) and I'm starting to see a loss again. My body just didn't like having too few calories. I found that I was hungry and tired all the time. EXTREMELY irritable, and one day I actually got really dizzy and forced myself to eat a freaking hamburger and fries! My stomach felt like s#!t after, but my dizziness went away.
What do you have your loss set at? Try easing back on it a bit. It sounds like you are exercising A LOT too...maybe just try to commit to either Turbo Jam, 30 day shred, or your cardio....even better, do 30 days of one, and switch it up every 30 days, that way exercise won't be to blame for a plateau. That and it will keep you interested. TurboFire is pretty awesome and is pretty much an intense version of TurboJam....maybe turbojam is just getting too easy and you need to challenge yourself a bit more.
There are so many factors and ppl here have given you so many great tips. Try to take a different one into account every few days until you start to see a loss (Btw..with only 8 lbs to lose...it'll probably take you 2 weeks to see even a 0.5 to 1 lb loss...so be patient0
