Food Weirdness: What's Yours?

When eating any type of cream or meringue pie, (even in a restaurant) I always use a silver knife and "sliver' it until it's gone. never use a fork or spoon.0

I ALWAYS eat my veggies first. Then eat everything else. Wife says it's because she thinks it's my least favorite and I just want to get it over with quickly.0

exit strategy.
all about having that one last bite with the perfect balance of whatever is on my plate - like saving the biggest crumbles of blue cheese n bacon til the last bite of my salad, or the prettiest raspberries for my final bit of chocolate cake. and the middle bites of hamburgers are always last.0 -
Also, I always "peel' batter fried foods, like chicken and shrimp, I peel off all batter and skin and eat the meaty part. This may be a healthy habit, but I don't do it because it's healthy.:happy:0

If I eat a hamburger, I want ketchup on it.
If I eat a cheeseburger, there's no way I'd eat it with ketchup on it.0 -

Me too! Something about the breading on the chicken/shrimp that weirds me out!0 -
I'm not sure I get this food not touching on the plate? How do you cope with a salad? What about a roast dinner where the gravy covers everything (well, it does on my plate!)? I'm confused!
Oooooh - I do the pineapple on pizza thing... I really like cooked pineapple
Because the ingredients in salad are suppose to touch. But its not suppose to touch the rest of my meal
If its a purposeful meal then I don't have issues, but unlike my husband and many others, I don't like mixing my mashed potatoes with my corn. They didn't start out that way.0 -

*adds another quirk to her list*0 -
Temperatures of foods and drinks like someone else mentioned is a biggie for me too. I can't stand the taste of hot chocolate. Not just the beverage from a packet, but brownies heated in the microwave, lava cakes, etc.
I also can only have hot tea and coffee. And only cold water. Apples are best cold also. Applesauce can be any temperature though.0 -
I can't stand ketchup! My fave way to eat a burger is with red onion and sour cream... and sometimes BBQ sauce and some kind of cheese. I also do not eat American cheese. Bleh!!
I knew there were good reasons to like you, bynsky. American cheese is bland and useless. Ketchup wrecks almost everything. I'm putting sour cream on my next burger.0 -
Food needs to be in the 'right' position on the plate. Meat is always on right hand side, potatoes or rice on the left, veg at the top.
Beets can't be on the same plate with everything else.
I don't like anything on the bone.
All gristle and fat must be removed from meat.0 -
i'm weird more for the enormous list of food that i like/hate than any particular habit:
i dont eat:
mayo
mustard
sour cream
hot sauce
cream cheese
miracle whip
olives
and creamy dressing
(in fact a whiff of most of these makes me dangerously nauseous.)
but i do like:
indian food
sushi
gator
calamari
shark meat
snake meat
and all kinds of "crazy" things....0 -
Apart from saving my favourites until the end of a meal I am decidedly unweird.0

I like peanut butter and pickle sammiches
with sweet pickles! Yum.Add a little hot mustard and some chicken or turkey. Super yum.0 -
I don't like chunks in my food-if I eat a sauce it has to be chunk free. (Spagetti Sauce cannot have hunks of tomato in it.) If I go somewhere and there are chunks in my food I have to scrape them to the side of my plate. When I used to go to Burger King or Mc D's a lot I would scrape the onions/pickles off with a french fry.0
-
I like to put hot sauce in my oatmeal and top my oatmeal with eggs. I think that is pretty much the only "weird" thing I do!0

I LOOOOOOVE pickle and peanut butter sandwiches!! But it has to be on toast0 -

*gasp* I have decided you win! lol *drooling* over warm/hot/melted chocolate...
I can't really think of a food weirdness I have except that everyone on this planet I know loves watermelon and I hate it, lol.0 -

i do the same thing lol!0 -
Cannot stand Peanut Butter & Jelly, but I LOVE Peanut Butter & Honey.0

i don't think i really do anything weird but my boyfriend puts ketchup in his macaroni & cheese. eww! and recently one of my friends told me they put mustard in theirs!0
-
love ketchup with mac n cheese but i have to dip it in the ketchup. same with fries, i hate when the ketchup is squirted all over them. i also cant have my foods touch . my boyfriend eats peanut butter with hotdogs...yuck!0

My Mother recently told me that she used to eat peanut butter and cheese together when she was younger..and she was a solid 80 lbs soaking wet when she was in high school and up until she started having kids, so clearly it's because of that combination
I decided to try it a week or two ago. OH MY GOSH! I'm now a huge fan of toasting one of those multi grain english muffins (100 calories), putting 1/2 tbsp reduced fat peanut butter on each side (90 calories), adding 1/2 tsp real maple syrup to each side (15 calories) and then adding half of a slice of cheese to each side (for swiss it's 50 calories) then broiling in the oven for about 1-2 minutes until the cheese is all melty. About 255 calories and it hits all sorts of cravings for me...I've been kind of obsessed with it lately! Peanut butter and cheese is where it's at!
I also do the "the last bite must be the best" thing as well, but I didn't think it was weird (until now...is it weird???).0 -
Hmm, where to start?....
When I was growing up I was very much of the "nothing can touch" variety. I wouldn't eat most casseroles or mixed dishes. Thankfully I outgrew that.
I tend to eat my least favorite parts of the meal first and save the best bits for last.
Probably the strangest to many people (though not that noticeable to a casual observer) is that I have to have an even number of bites. If there's an odd number, something's getting cut in half or not eaten. There must always be an equal number to chew on the right side and on the left side... Oh, and some numbers are bad. I never eat 6 of anything.
A random one that sometimes grosses out my friends is that I grew up eating French toast savory, never sweet. It still seems quite odd to me that people put syrup and sugar on it. I only ever eat it with ketchup.0 -

I very much dislike ketchup on most stuff, I see people putting it on mac and cheese or eggs (wtf really??) it just bugs me. HOWEVER I do like mustard with my eggs or on my egg sandwiches. It makes sense, think about deviled eggs, there's mustard in those! I even got my boyfriend to try mustard on his egg sandwiches and he loves it now.0 -
Ketchup on mac and cheese and eggs is NOT weird. It's normal. And that's what I keep telling myself.
I eat ketchup on:
eggs
Mac & Cheese
chili
stew
grilled cheese sandwiches
burgers
dogs
fries
Best sandwich: peanut butter, ketchup and celery.0 -
Nothing too OCD or odd. I do eat wierd things but my one thing is olives. I hate the way the smell. They way they taste, the way they look, the way the feel. Every single thing about them. I refuse to touch even a jar of them without gloves on(at work) and IF only IF I MUST no other way out of it touch them I do so with gloves and tongs or a spoon. :sick:0
-
I eat one thing at a time, too...also, food can't touch! The kids and hubby give me heck about it! LOL0
-
I LOVE them! Especially the black ones. I could eat a jar...sometimes, my daughters and I just order a black olive pizza. YUM!0
