What do most of you prefer to eat for breakfast carb or protein based foods.
I myself eat oatmeal and berries so would be carb based but i get so hungry about 1 hour later i need to eat again so i was thinking maybe switch to eggs and toast.
What do you all prefer.
Thanks

I prefer mixture; sausage, egg, cheese with onion and peppers in a tortilla. You get carbs, protein, fats, and fiber.3

Oh both!! Like I had egg tacos yesterday. Very delicious!! 0 0

Whatever suits your needs and preferences.2

Protein and fats. You're hungry again because you ate a bowl of grains and your body wanted protein and fats. When you eat processed carbs and grains like that, your sugars go up and insulin gets released. The result of a large insulin spike is a small crash or hunger feeling.3

I do better on complex carbs, which naturally ends up including some protein, anyhow. Having anything but a very large meat/egg breakfast gives me a stonking headache, but unsweetened nutty muesli with unsweeened soya milk seems to settle my stomach and get me going without giving me the mid morning shakes that a less complex carb breakfast give me Has to be soya milk. I have lactofree in my coffee but hate the taste on my muesli (or in porridge). Rice/oat/homeopathic almond milk leave me shaky as they have bog all protein in them and are usually too sugary.0

Do you make the oatmeal with milk or water, btw? Makes a difference in how sustaining it is. Maybe add some Greek yogurt to it if you don't fancy anything else.0

Both! I often do oatmeal mixed with protein powder, powdered PB, hemp hearts, and fruit.0

Eggs 90% of the time. Some days on the weekends we have pancakes or French toast (so carb-y) but we always have bacon with it so as to keep my protein up.0

            Both.
I eat a pretty high carb breakfast currently (smoothie with a good mix of fruits and veg), but with some protein powder and misc other protein (28 g this morning), and am every bit as satiated as I was when doing a vegetable omelet with smoked salmon or cottage cheese on the side, for the same calories. Omelet was more balanced, similar amount of protein or slightly more; current breakfast is much higher carb/lower fat.
Fat does nothing for me when it comes to satiety. Protein and fiber are what matter.1

            Carbs.0

This morning a feckoff omelette, with curly kale, a mountain of Parmesan cheese and a few cherry tomatoes all pan fried in 2 dessert spoons of coconut oil. I ate that at 10:30. Then I had lunch (two seabass fillets) at 14:30. I started feeling hungry again around 22:30 so had a few chunks of cheese. I also whipped some cream and threw a few strawberries and blueberries in there.0

Carbs because i workout in the morning usually it's peanut butter chocolate and banana overnight oats (:0
-
Carbs, protein and fats. 2 slices of sprouted grain bread with butter, one egg, and usually a slice of cheese under the egg 0 0

Protein over carbs. Carbs don't fill me up very long.
Honestly, it's fat over protein any day for me.0
-
I personally prefer both, with some fat thrown in.0
-
I would prefer protein: gives me more energy.0
-
Both will keep me fuller longer.0

            eggs and toast is both3

I have a physical job. The best thing to keep me going is a combination of both. Carbs for quick energy and protein to feed working muscles. Cereal with whole milk and some yogurt works well to get me through to lunch.0
-
I only eat it only on the weekends and it's almost always protein heavy. I prefer to eat my carbs at night if I need energy the next day. That said, I will throw in pancakes to help my energy and my evil id at times. Find the combo that works for you.0

I usually do a mix of both but focus on getting at least 20 grams of protien. I am obsessed with oatmeal with protien powder right now it's so good. I will eat it all day and it is low enough in ffat not to give me a gall bladder attack.0

I like both! But generally I stick to protein based breakfasts as it does keep me fuller for longer.0
-
I've found both work, but it generally works best if I eat an hour or so after getting up, then I actually focus on what I'm eating (as opposed to being in a sleep-filled blur) so seem to get less hungry and so snack less before lunch!0
-
Usually both [carbs for an initial burst of energy, protein to feel full longer].0
-
Yeah. Carbs don't keep me full. I basically avoid them unless I have discretionary calories for a treat. Even fruit...nope.
That said, I had a lot of mac n cheese and bread pudding tonight but I was just having fun. I would never choose carbs for breakfast. Doesn't fuel me.0

A balance of carbs, fat and protein works best for me. Eggs on toast, or almond butter on toast with a glass of milk, or oatmeal with ground flaxseed, raisins and cinnamon and a glass of milk. Just bacon and eggs does nothing for me, and if I have the toast without some fat/protein I eat *way* too much.0
-
I prefer a balanced mix of carbs protein and healthy fat, it suits me better than anyting else. Today for example I hat oats with soy milk, a scoop of protein powder and 2 tsp of peanut butter. Keeps me fuller for longer and gives me a great start for the day. (BTW I exercize most mornings before work).0

It shouldn't matter if you eat carbs or protein for breakfast, Getting hungry 1 hour after eating suggests you are not eating enough generally. that feeling of hunger could be a psychological and physical response to you not feeling full, feed, and nourished after each meal.
I would suggest having someone look over your food intake and activity level just to be safe.
I personally get more satisfaction from protein based breakfasts but it's my personal preference. It really comes down to your goals and preference.

I have to use steel cut oats. If not, I'm ravenous by 10am.0
