Depends on your stats and activity level

Generally the minimum recommended for women is 1200 unless you're very small or very old. 1400 may or may not be healthy for you but since you've given absolutely no information it would hard for anyone to even begin to guess.

You are a 5'10" male who according to your profile is 26 years old. Yes, eating 1200 to 1400 is unhealthy. I am a 5'10" male who is 50 and I can eat 2100 and lose at pace of about 1 pound a week with a little bit of exercise. 1500 is considered the minimum for a man to get the nutrition he needs, and being younger, you can eat a lot more and still lose weight. Was that the amount Myfitnesspal gave you?

Then no, it isn't healthy. You should be eating minimum 1500 calories, if not the goal MFP gives you.

What calorie goal does mfp give you?

Mfp gives me 1640 to eat and I'm trying to be careful what I eat I just saw that what I did eat end up being under what the app says
  • Cashew nuts, almonds, Brazil nuts... all things like that are full of good things but high in calories

I need your age to give you more accurate info, if you want?

    so age 26
    height 5'10
    weight 247 lbs
not exercising so more of sedentary activity level

Your Basal Metabolic Rate = 2317 calories per day
Your TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure) = 2781 this based on your activity level which in this case sedentary

so to lose weight you need to eat less than TDEE
    30% Deficit = 1947 calories per day

to lose 1 lbs of fat you need to burn 3500 cals so if you went 30% Deficit that's almost losing 2 lbs a week

If you went with MFP which 1640 kcals per day that's about 40% deficit

I don't think you should go lower than that but the choice is yours, hope my info was helpful, good luck! :)

What's your injury? If you have broken bones, you should likely be eating at maintenance for them to recover as best as they can.

Why not working out the upper body till your ankle heal?
    Didn't think of that

Just for some perspective I am older shorter and smaller than you, and I am losing about a pound a week on about 2000 calories a day.
