Is it too late for me?

I know the title is a bit dramatic. Don't get too upset by this story/question/I need someone to talk to and some of you all just night know my struggle. So I'm 36, 37 in November. I've done some crazy damage to my body. I don't appear to be the weight that I actually am. At least, most people say I don't but I feel that I look like I weigh a lot more. In order to be out of the obese range, I have to lose about 100 lbs more and I'm okay with that. The thing is though- I love to dance. I love belly dance and burlesque. I would love to go to a festival and perform or just dance in public. I love Rachel Brice and Zoe Jakes. I'm a hug fan of Music City Burlesque and Suicide Girls. I would love to perform with the likes of them. I know there are plenty of curvy and curvy plus girls out there who do. I'm super curvaceous but I have a ton of toning work that needs to be done( my bingo arms are out of control and my twerk giggle would give someone a seizure, or possibly set off a tsunami, LOL!) but by the time I get to a place that I feel is decent, I might be 40 possibly older. people always say that its never too late, but IDK, I guess I'm just having a rough time and do to how much further I have to go in my weight loss journey- I almost want to give up..... Help!!!!

I'm older and if I give up I'll never reach my goals, yes this process can be daunting at times but once you get a routine of exercise, healthy eating with an occasional healthy treats and support here. Things won't seem as daunting, I wish you well and no get all the support you need and can WW, Spark people.com, here and other websites. You can do this

I have a good 123lbs to lose and will be 37 next March. I too keep thinking the same, is it too late...will I ever get to my goal weight? I have lost 10lbs on 6 weeks which is really slow for me...but I feel so much better for making a start. I am happy to be friends and motivate each other along...hopefully we can be slimmer and happy by 40. I used to teach belly dancing...absolutely love dancing. I no longer dance due to my weight...I did recently think about attending absolutely belly dancing class but decided against it due to my weight

I will be 48 in 6 days and this will happen no matter what.. I did not do a thing for health until I was 45 years old. I think besides having some older bones, I am in the best shape and probably in better shape than any one around me currently.

So embrace the birthdays, embrace and celebrate your life and dance! Aaahh and age is a state of mind, really.. no one knows your birthday until you reveal it.

You can't control your age - it will go up just as sure as night will follow day. Focus on what you can control and stop wasting your energy and emotion!

A 97 year old woman got her high school diploma last year. You could live to be 90, and it will still be well over twice your age. It's never too late!

You will get older whether you lose weight or not.
It can make a huge difference to your quality of life and energy level to get to a healthy weight.
I am 42 and dropped 28 pounds in 2 years. I feel so much better and can do so much more. I don't strive to be a performer but if I wanted to why would my age stop me?

I'm 48 and I will never give up. Age is just a number. It's your state of mind that counts.

Not going to get any sympathy from me. Your still a baby as far as I'm concerned.

I'm 56 years old had a double hip replacement last year. In January something clicked in my brain at the time I weigh 288. My current weight is 208. I am ableto do things I haven't been able to do since high school. In fact I weigh less now than I did in high school.

Like one or two other poster said age is just a number and when I say you're a baby I mean you're young in the scope of things. If you put your mind to it you can see unbelievable results in 6 months to a year. More than anything else you have to realize your worth it. Don't get frustrated it will work if you want it to work. God bless.

    Of course not!
I started over countless times over the decades.
Finally got serious about doing this when MFP was recommended to me. I was 60 at the time (3-12-12).
I lost over 1/2 of my current body weight and have kept it off for almost 3 years now.
It is never too late! You can do this!

OP: If you're breathing, it's not too late.

The tl;dr version of my story:
    • Started age 45, fat all my adult life, at 105kg/230lbs
    • Ate less, walked a lot, started weight training
    • Dropped to 72kg/156 lbs over eighteen months
    • Open heart surgery out of nowhere (unrelated to fat or weight loss)
    • Told it would take at least a year to recover
    • Restarted
    • Breaking my own lifting and cardio records nine months later

You have nothing to lose, health-wise, by going at it.

Is it harder than if I started in my 20's? Sure. Impossible is not the same as "harder".
