Starving

I didn't eat enough protein yesterday or Saturday and I am starving today. Weekends are hard to maintain my diet. What can I do today to get me back on track? I usually eat 1200-1500 calories in a day. Any advice?

I'm like you, if my protein is low... I'm starving! If this happens, I drink a high protein shake (I prefer EAS chocolate...has 30 grams of protein, 6 carbs and 2.5 grams of fat and 170 calories). Calorie wise it's not a huge investment and it definitely takes the edge off my hunger and cravings.

    Big steak for dinner!

I'd snack more today between your meals with protein filled foods. A handful of mixed nuts, string cheese, greek yogurt...

Not very big on 1500 calories for the day and an extra 100 calories above normal by adding a protein shake.

MFP's minimum default for an adult male is 1500 calories (before exercise).

You are starving because you are not eating enough. Eat at least 1500 calories to meet nutritional minimums. Because 1500 is a default (one-size-fits-all) it may not be appropriate for your height, weight, age and activity level.

@TeaBea I am following my doctors recommendation. I see them monthly. I am losing an average of 8 lbs a month for 5 months. 110 more to go. I am walking 3 miles 4-6 days a week now. My heart rate while exercising is much better. My BP has gone back to normal. I only have a starved feeling of my protein intake is too low. I was sure others had the same issue. I wanted to know how they addressed it positively without doing something regrettable like getting the biggest pastry thing in the vending machine. I ran out and got the EAP shakes, not the worst thing I have ever drank but it didn't really help with the problem. Need protein = crave carbs. Odd. Probably going to be near 1600 calories today but no really bad choices so far.

Keep some protein powder on hand. When I don't have many calories left in my allowance but am low on protein, I make a protein shake. 150 cals and fixes the problem. Then fill stomach with nonstarchy vegetables.
