Too many calories left over, but not hungry. Do I eat anyway?

If it's a rare day I wouldn't worry. You might be coming down with a cold or something. I'd just eat what you felt like. Anyhow - all the more calories gathered up for a couple of days time when you can have a treat if you feel like it!1

Sometimes you just aren't that hungry. Not sure you need to complicate more than that, especially as you state that this isn't normal.
As much as I believe in getting all of your calories in, I am also a fan of the 'WHEN' approach - When Hungry, Eat Naturally.
Happened to me yesterday in fact. I exercised (strength training and cardio) and burned 1000 calories, but didn't eat any of those back, and to boot only ate 1000 of my normally allowed 2100. So I was operating at a 2100 calories deficit. Today might be a day that I go a bit past my calorie limit, but since I am looking at the overall trend line, it's no biggie.

Sometimes when I'm very active this happens to me bc the intense activity suppresses my appetite. But I will be very hungry the next day. I try to listen to my body. If I'm around 1,000 and not hungry I won't eat anything else but if I'm at 800 or so then I will have some almonds or peanut butter. Or maybe even a glass of milk. I usually get around 1400 a day so I think for me it averages out and I try not to obsess about it. Obsession in my personal experience leads me to throw in the towel when I slip up and don't meet my own unfair standards. This time around I'm relaxing a bit!2

This happens to me occasionally. Especially since I've been back at work. I realise I've skipped breakfast and lunch time is nearly over so I'll have a 5-600 cal lunch which fills me up and then I don't think about dinner because I had lunch late. I normally try to eat something if my calorie intake is that low. But don't panic too much. Just remember it later on in the week when you reallllllyyy want that slice of chocolate cake1

It happens when you start counting calories to go overboard and under eat because you're paying so much attention to your goals. Of course you're here because you are overweight, and you didn't get that way being stuffed on 600 calories. right?
If you under eat a few days during the week.. you could use the calories you didn't use for a meal when you eat out on the weekends, or a splurge meal. Things would all equal out. But if you under eat all the time.. you must realize it will be counter productive and the good advice is to eat at least 1200 calories a day to be a healthy human. So, remember "balance" is the key to happiness and success.

As it's not typical, don't worry about it. Some days you feel hungrier than others. If you eat low today, you can eat high another day when you are hungrier. It usually balances out.1

I have 1-2 days a week that I have little appetite. I find that 5:2 intermittent fasting (IF) fits my natural pattern. It might work for you if this becomes a pattern for you. If it is atypical, the other suggestions (not force food and not to worry) are great.0

I utilize IF 18/6 daily and it's helped a lot with hunger. There are actually a lot of days I don't come up to my 1500 calories, never super low but maybe 150-250 or so below. I'm not eating if I'm not hungry.1

A friend of mine has added her own food called left over calories. We were on a diet with very minimal calories and still hitting under 900 a day. But with her left over food entry it wasn't intake but she could log at the end of the day.
I dint do it that way. I haven't finished the journal off and on for weeks but still log it.1 -

Thank you!!! I feel like some people didn't read clearly!! I said keyword "today" not "everyday" lmao. Thank you for understanding. I thought that some would understand that from the start, but it's like they didn't read clearly/didn't read at all. Lol2 -

I'm glad you understood where I was coming from. I didn't think my post would cause some of the negative statements I read but, most of the comments were positive and understanding. I appreciate those.

Yes, eat. I've found coconut oil is a good source for added calories without carbs, add a couple tablespoons to a glass of cashew milk or almond milk. You'll need to blend it well because coconut oil solidifies at such a low temp otherwise it will be chunky2

It's not going to hurt to be under your calories for a day or two - I see you mentioned that you are usually quite good at sticking to your calorie limit, so that's good. On the days where you are unable to eat anymore, write down how many you had left - add it up and use it at the weekend for an indulgence! That's how I personally handled 'weekday under-eating'. It worked really well for me1
