This week is grocery week - we do 1 major grocery store trip a month because I hate grocery shopping lol
I like to make a list beforehand of what I want and need and what's on sale, have coupons for etc.
So I want to know - what are your must-haves? I get tired of eating the same crap over and over all of the time.
Any good high protein stuff? And what is Shakeology? Someone fill me in, I'm interested in what all of the hooplah is all about :p
Thanks!

How do you do produce? I'm always looking for ways to make it last longer and if you only go once a month I'm impressed. I don't grocery shop at all (because I too hate it) but, I have Organics 2 You, a local produce delivery program.

If you're freezing produce....be careful to dry items out before freezing so they don't clump or wilt, lol.

Well some produce lasts... I have found that if you leave the produce IN the produce bags in the crisper drawer, they last about 3-4 weeks and are still really fresh. Some things I buy weekly like fruit and stuff - I go for milk, bread, fruit like once a week, but once a month we do major shopping - we have a big deep freezer and a big shelf pantry so I try to keep it filled, just much easier that way! But I get like big fruit salad bowls at Publix like once a week, and bananas and stuff that will spoil... but I have some bell peppers in my fridge that have been there since June 13 and they are still crisp and fresh - I left them in the produce bags! I dunno why that makes a difference, but it seems to. *shrug*

I have a sweet tooth so I must have my mints, gum, craisins and almonds, blueberry caffine free tea, honey, and dried apricots. The rest is just food. Those are my MUST have!

The one thing I did keep was my morning coffee which I use half and half with sugar. I just went from 4 cups to two : )

I have to have oats, chicken breast, low fat yoghurt, eggs, almonds and coffee in the fridge/ cupboards. Absolutely, or I start getting cranky. Also silverbeet or spinach, onions, garlic and zucchini.

fresh/frozen fruits and veggies, all kinds

    soy milk

    eggs

    almonds

    soy sausage and burgers

After that I try to mix it up to keep things interesting.
I'm trying to stay away from highly processed foods, it's not easy!
Right now I'm trying to eat more like a vegetarian.

Do you eat the plain greek yogurt? I've tried it and cannot force myself to eat it!

I must always have bananas! I'm addicted! And Shakeology is absolutely disgusting. It's like drinking a thick nasty paste. It smells and tastes awful! My neighbor gave me a sample, and I could only take a small sip. Any more than that and I would have thrown up. Ridiculously overpriced too. $120 a month for ONE shake a day?! No thank you!

    • eggs
    • old-fashioned oats
    • veggie oil in my mister (for cooking the eggs)
    • salt (for the eggs and oats)
    • 1% organic milk (for the oats)
    • raw sugar (for the oats)
    • cinnamon (for the oats)

    Almost as important:
    • baby organic spinach
    • baked croutons
    • yogurt-based salad dressing
    • whole-wheat pasta
    • whole-wheat sandwich thins
    • chicken tenderloins
    • reduced-fat cheddar

Pretty darned important for my sanity:

Agreed, Shakeology was gross and expensive. I tried all different recipes and I couldn't even gag it down. If they had more than two flavors it MIGHT be worth it, but for now, I would stay away. $240 down the drain, literally.

My must haves are fruit - at this time of year blueberries, raspberries and strawberries. Also cherries. In the autumn, apples. I can eat 4 apples a day. Greek yoghurt, milk, pasta (not for me, for the children), rocket and other mixed salad, courgettes, tahini, cheddar, parmesan, light halloumi, olive oil, tomatoes and passata, rice (red, long grain and risotto), onions, garlic, humous, cucumber, wild sumac, basil, rolled oats and chillies. Oh, and eggs. My children can get through half a dozen eggs in one meal.
