First proper day of being a Person with a Gym Membership. Buoyed up and aware that it would be easy to just chicken out I was determined. Dinner was going to be eaten at 5 and while the kids did their homework at 6 (yeah who am I kidding) I would head to the gym.
But then my son had a doctor's appointment about his hurty arm (to be fair he did fracture his wrist but that was ages ago) at 6. Then my ex popped round and I gave him his gym card. Then the dog needed a quick walk.
But I was determined - got in the truck and drove the 7 miles to the gym. Was just parking when.... my mother rang. 45 minutes later I got away and went in. Then the local cribbage team rang because they are short of a play tomorrow. Then my new card didn't work and it turned out they had spelt my name wrong as well.
By this time I was really really ready to run away. Trying to control the anxiety is like riding a bull at the best of times (actually I have no idea if it is like riding a bull but it is very like riding a cow which I have tried....).
But I DID IT. I went and I used the machines and I spent some time with the really scary looking thing with ropes and different handles and pulleys so I knew how to use it and would not always just skirt round it.
I will aim to go again Wednesday....

You showed great resolve to keep dealing with all those side-tracks, and then, still go on inside the gym. You got in a good workout and were real brave in there. I hope your Wednesday trip to the gym goes wonderfully.1
