Ladies, did you loose your chest?

Started small, gained weight, stayed small. That's just not where my body holds fat. The equipment is all there - nursed my kids fine, made way more than enough milk, could squirt it across the room. The GYN despairs because she can't read the mammograms as the breasts are "dense", meaning there isn't enough fat in there to spread things out so she can see between them; so I can never get the scans covered as preventative care. I feel like she is pathologizing normal small boobs.
Anyway - never been fat but they do not change much with my weight, and didn't change much with pregnancy or nursing either.. Bra size does change, because the band changes and that can mean a bigger or smaller cup size, of course. But they stay small and close to me.0 -
Mine are always first to volunteer lol0

But the past few years my back started hurting. I'm 5'6" and 157 lbs, not significantly overweight, so I researched online how to take my measurements. I laughed at the weird size it spit back at me, went to the store to try that size on just for fun, and lo and behold...that funky 34FF or 32G (34H or 32i in US sizes) fit like a glove. Most of us are wearing an incorrect size, especially if we are wearing old bras and haven't been measured by a profession. (VS doesn't count as professional fitting.)
It's important to remember that the underbust (around your rib cage) is a measurement of the band size and will decrease with smaller girth. However, the cup size may or may not decrease. For some women it goes up because there is more "depth" underneath that needs to be filled in a smaller band. The cup size measurement can be independent of the band size - it is unpredictable and changes with weight loss and body recomp.
For what it's worth, if you were large at a smaller size, the girls will probably still be large when you lose weight and body fat percentage...and vice versa. Breasts can lose fat, but not glandular tissue.
Those bra sizing calculators never work for me. It always spits out a way too big cup size. I used the 'a bra that fits' one, and admittedly it's getting closer to accurate as I've lost weight, but when I was still a lot heavier it was waaaayy off. I actually on a whim ordered from a good uk company in the size it said and it didn't fit at all. I could have fit a small ham in each cup along with my boobs...I carry a lot of weight on my back and shoulders so I think it throws off the bust measurement. Just something for others to keep in mind when using those calculators. And also, if the calculator you use adds inches to the under bust measurement (like if your under bust measures 34 and it tells you to buy a size 38 bra), don't trust it at all. That's an outdated measuring technique that just won't die.1 -

Bratabase has a good measurement system that involves actually measuring across your boobs, each one, in a couple of different ways, and gives more specific recommendations, and has pictures, try that site.1 -
Nope! Lost nearly 100 pounds and went down a bit in band size, but everything else stayed the same.0
-
Nope. Seems to have made little to no difference. I'm cool with that. I'm a basic C, which seems to match perfectly with my body type and size. I consider myself lucky. My sister has big boobs and has to wear two sports bras when running.0
-
I went from a 38B to a 32C but my boobs are obviously much smaller. Cup size isn't really the best way to measure "big" vs "small" I'm cool with smaller boobs though, I've never really wanted bigger ones. I have many large breasted friends and they are so uncomfortable!0
-
I went down a band size and a cup size. I actually think they look better now!0

Dude I can only buy from Lane Bryant because of my cup size. However, my band size has always been smaller than expected. I went bra shopping in the store maybe a year back and the clerk asked me what size I was looking for and I answered "38 H". I kid you not, she pulled out a tape measure and was surprised I was right. Fast forward to today, I've lost a little over 30 pounds and I WISH I had the problem of losing breast size first. Please volunteer as tribute haha. My band is about a 35 but my cup size has not changed that much in comparison.
I think it just depends on the body type. I come from a long line of "cursed" women lol.1 -
Went from DD to A.0

Yes, it's gone forever. It's so sad.0

I've only lost 18 pounds to date but luckily no-- not yet anyway. I think I've lost some back fat however.0

I just started trying to lose weight and I'm already losing my boobs but more in my stomach. My thighs and boobs grew first so I'm not sure what's going to happen but I wouldn't mind going down several cup sizes I'm at a 42DDD right now and would love to get down to a C/D cup. My husband is sad they are going but says that he is happy I'm getting healthy because he loves me and wants me to be around for a long time.1

I've read somewhere that were you gain weight last is generally where you lose it first... I find that true for me, and I've always held most of my weight in my hips, thighs, and belly. Breasts are always last to grow but first to shrink! :P But overall, I've stay proportional. Several years ago, when I had a 34" bust, I wanted sooo badly for a 36" bust... Well, weight gain happened, I got my 36" bust, and my breasts didn't look much bigger because all around I gained weight! XD Generally, my bust is always 8-9 inches bigger than my waist, and my hips are 11-12 inches bigger than my waist. (Variation is due to bloating/eating throughout the day and different times of the month.) No matter what weight or waist measurement, this had been the case.
And at one point, if you're going for extreme weight loss, your ribcage will make up most of your "bust" circumference, so your boobs may look smaller. It also depends on how much of your breast tissue is fat vs. mammary tissue. But really, it depends on where you "wear" your weight that will determine what you will "lose." And fat loss is usually a percentage, so it would happen evenly throughout the body. No magical "fat targeting" exists to make you lose just one measurement, so you can't lose just your waist measurement and keep your boobs and butt (unless you eat a lot of salt and sugar and cut them out, then bloating may go away, making your waist appear smaller); fat is fat, no matter where it's at! :P0 -
yup they deflated like the rest of me0

I am glad you said something! So many women don't understand the correlation between band size and cup size & shame on Victoria's Secret for their "fitting" techniques!
All these bras (28G = 30FF = 32F = 34DDD = 36DD = 38D = 40C ) hold the same amount of "breast tissue" even though the "cup size" is labeled with a different letter
A must read for ALL women sophisticatedpair.com/how-band-and-cup-sizes-work/

Yeah, but I never had much boob to begin with.0
-
Yes. Somewhat. 38D to a 34C. Not complaining, at all. 50 lbs lost.0
-
I recommend Berlei sports bras. They're AMAZING!0

I've lost 42 pounds...yay! Turn 40 next week...boo.
Went from a 40C to a 34C but to quote someone on here (I'm sorry I can't give credit, I can't remember where I saw it)
"They are like tube socks filled with jelly at the bottom. I roll them up in the morning and place them in my bra."
This is so true for me and frankly, right now, they are hideous but I'm still glad I lost the weight.

I never had much to begin with. 36B at 160-180lbs. Now I'm just itty bitty. 32 B. I could wear an A cup but a 34 band is way too big.0
-
I've lost a little over 35 pounds and gone from 38DD to 36DD. I recall a few years back at a lower weight that I had been a 36C, but I wonder if I was even in the right size then because I never really got fitted until I was bigger and couldn't find bras to fit right. Like everything with our weight loss journeys, your mileage may vary!0

yups my bra size changed. when i started i was 209 lbs and was a 38DD, now i'm 165-ish and a 38C0
-
I'm in the same boat. Thus far my cup size seems to be the same, since I'm reducing proportionally...I'm only down 15 pounds, with 15 more to go, so I'm still wearing my old 34D's (which are too big right now)...and I'm dreading it if I'm going to have to find what I'm estimating will be 30D's...I mean 30's are in the kiddy department and I don't even think they normally make them in D's, so it's going to probably be special order or have bad fitting bras. Here's hoping I do lose a cup size or two.
When I was younger and even into my 20's, I was always flat chested (used to say I could just wear band aids instead of a bra). As I got older (post 30) and put on weight is when I started getting some girls. Now, I do hate to lose them, and they were one of the first things to start to drop inches (last on, first off), but they seem to have stabilized a bit.
There are bras with 30 bands & even smaller. I wear a 30HH or 30J depending on the TOM--definitely not finding them in the kiddie department . If you're close to Nordstrom's, they should have plenty to choose from & they can measure & fit you properly as well (not like most stores). If you end up needing smaller than 28, you will probably have to start looking online. I don't understand why it's so hard to find a 30 or smaller band at Target or Walmart. When my oldest was younger & still wearing female clothes, I thought it would be so easy to find a bra in that band & cup size. I just learned that bra shopping is a pain in the rear no matter what size you are.

you don't have to throw away your old bras or wear them if they don't fit properly. i grab the ones that don't fit, and sew part of their back straps thus making the back smaller. from a size 34 and 32 i made mine a size 30 today. it's very inexpensive and i don't have to spend money for new ones.the cups won't fit perfectly, but that is not really a problem for me.0

Yes I did, thank gosh, but I think it also depends on if you have fibrous, or fatty breast tissue. According to my doctor, I have fatty breasts, which is good for breast cancer detection, not so good for that nice firm look, so for me, losing cuppage has been a good thing. Especially since it makes for easier running. My sister, who has also lost weight this year (after a couple heavy ones) has fibrous breasts, so her boobs still look as big as ever. Which kinda pisses me off because she was always the twig with big boobs. I was just the blob with the brain. Oh wait...I forgot, we have the same exact IQ, so I didn't even get that title.1

during the 15lbs iv lost my boobs have gone too.
i put my fave bra on the other day and the cups looked empty0 -
It's all genetics sadly. I went from 38 DDD to 34 D. I suppose I'm one of the lucky ones!
Keep in mind though that cup size goes up as you lose band size too... so 34 D would be the same as 36 C, for example.0
