I drove by a KFC earlier and didn't want chicken at all. Not even remotely interested. In the past when I went past one it made me want chicken even if I didn't stop and get chicken.17

Just pulled a big batch of old clothing out of storage -- stuff I couldn't pull past my knees or get over my head before. Not all of it looks great, but I can pull most of it on and some of it even looks decent as is. It's like rediscovering who I used to be. I am near (happy) tears.31

I've got two.
1. I ran for twenty minutes today without stopping. Holy $*(% I would not have believed that was possible even a month ago.
2. Despite thinking about it for the last hour, I have not had another pumpkin chocolate chip oatmeal cookie. And I'm about to get ready for bed so I should be safe until tomorrow.32 -
yesterday my daughter had a 5-piece Popeye's Chicken tenders meal, with their fries and a biscuit. As she ordered I walked to the other end of the mall and bought a protein bar from the GNC. yes, I stole a bite of one of her chicken strips...a brother's gotta LIVE...but my 380 calorie bar more-than-fixed whatever hunger I had. Based on what I can find online, had she consumed her entire meal she would have eaten about 1100 calories! Doh!28

Going on holiday on Monday need to alter my shorts because they are too big. Hubby says buy new ones but shops have now got Winter clothing in. Good job I can sew.21

Signed up for my first 10K trail race in November, not being sure how well I'd be able to do. So on Saturday I did a practice 10K, on a trail, and I did pretty well. 10K in 1:11 (927 total climb)? I think that's a good start. Barring any injuries or derailments I expect to improve even more in the next 6 weeks, so now I'm really looking forward to it.23

Kinda a long, powerlifted for twelve years, quit to raise kids, got fat, lost fat(50 lbs in 4 months), got into the gym, started powerlifting again, started crossfit too. 3 years ago everything came to a crash, surgery on knee, surgery for right shoulder(tore every tendon I got), ruptured and herniated a disc, several compressed,bulging and degenerated. But I'm back, will soon bench 405 in the next couple of weeks(385 right now).15

Yesterday a co-worker from out of town dropped by the office. I've seen him once a year or so at meetings or at training for about the last 15 years. Yesterday he introduced himself to me. He honestly didn't recognize me. An nsv? Yes.
But here's my thought..... all those years did he just see an overweight person and never actually look at who I was? Does everybody do that? Do I do that? Or is it just our minds way of remembering a person I.e. Ryan is the guy with glasses, or Katie is the one with red hair. I don't know.

If you look at all the success picture threads ..... look at how those faces have changed, He really might not have recognized you if you only see him once a year and you lost a lot of weight13 -
I had a favourite pair of sugoi capris. Great technical fabric. Wore them for work and for biking. size XL.
Loved them so much I had picked up a large and then a medium in a very good sale-and the hope of sometimes slimming down. Couldn't even get the button done up on the med and large weren't wearable.
Well moved into the large in June and yesterday I wore the mediums. Still a bit snug but the large are baggy through the butt.19 -
@ridiculous59 The confusion is likely genuine, especially if you've lost a lot.
I'm down 100 lbs and kids I taught 2 or 3 years ago think I'm lying to them when I say I had them in class.
On Sunday, the lady sitting in front of me inchurch turned around...she'd recognized my voice, but not my appearance!17 -
I've got a few. Last night after picking up popcorn chicken for my sons, I didn't steal a piece or two. This is literally the first time this has happened (always smells so good). They would have fit into my cals for the day but I decided I wanted to have a lowish day.
A coworker told me that I was "a shadow of my former self". Which although a little odd, nicely avoided the weirdness of a older/senior male colleague commenting on how I looked.
I am into the smallest pair of jeans I own. So from now on I will be thinner than I have been in 15 years.24 -
Some of you will know that I occasionally post here when I have an NSV worth sharing, but I want everyone to know that I read this thread. Every. Single. Day. Not only do I rejoice at all your achievements, it makes me reflect on my own and appreciate how far I've some myself. Often it's difficult to remain focused from day to day. So thank you. And keep them coming.
I agree - I have it bookmarked and read it every day if I can, or at least every two days! It's really inspiring to see all these wonderful NSVs and to look forward to some of them for myself.
All of yours today are fabulous - congrats on them all! But this line especially caught my eye...How do I know this? Because I think that maybe my own positivity is helping others in their journey too.
I want you to know that it is. You're one of my favourite friends (am I allowed to say that? ) and always so positive even when you have reason not to be. I try to think of you when I start feeling too sorry for myself, and to siphon off some of that positivity for myself! *big hugs*
A little NSV for me today. I was rummaging through my jewellery to find a ring that would help keep my (hubby's) wedding ring in place - my own is still a little too tight to wear comfortably most days, but his is becoming so loose I'm in danger of it slipping off when my hands are cold! I found a couple of old rings that fit now, including the one my hubby had given me as a "pre-engagement" ring, and put away several that are now far too big. But I also looked at some of the other jewellery I haven't been able to wear for years. I can now wear several bracelets that haven't fit my wrist in far too many years (including, again, one from hubby - the first gift he ever bought me when we started dating), and I tried a couple of necklaces that were rather too short for my chubby neck and they now also fit! It brought back a lot of happy memories, going through that box.
Which reminds me - something I'd mentioned on my newsfeed but not here... I'm getting collarbones! So exciting... I feel like my whole neck and shoulder area is getting smaller and narrower (even though I haven't lost many inches from my bust yet so the rest of my top half doesn't feel much different sometimes!).

Slightly weird one but.. I looked down today and all I saw was boobs!
Usually there's boobs then a belly sticking out past them right below, I can't remember the last time I didn't see my belly. Its my motivation to keep going for today
Fabulous! I still see my belly, but not so much of it as before.
Soon, maybe there will be visible toes for us!

I have a day full of work meetings, which means lots of sitting and unhealthy catered food. I not only couldn't finish my lunch/didn't even want to, but much more out of character: on a break I went into the empty ladies bathroom and started doing squats because I can't stand my muscles being still all day in a chair! Feels like major changes are really happening lately, and happening naturally.24

My husbands ex wife hasn't seen me for over a year and she is 4 sizes + bigger than me
So a couple months ago I emailed her asking can we get together to keep an eye on her daughters weight my step daughter aged 10 as she's in aged 13 clothes (uk) as her mother is type 2 diabetic the doctors told them they're child is 65% more likely to get diabeties than a child who's parent hasn't got it, so I'm worried as her weight is high already plus bullying as secondary schools coming next year.
Her mother replied
" I should shut up I'm as huge as a house and never best been as fat as me ! "
Thing is she's always been bigger than me but she didn't know I've worked my butt off the last 7 months and I've lost 58 lbs 5 dress sizes.
So I sorted my old clothes out and gave her 2 sacks full that are too big for me.
So my NSV is being able to give my huge house clothes to her29 -
I was able to walk behind my husbands chair at the table without sucking in and squeezing by and not having to ask him to scoot in. It was an amazing feeling.21

Someone in the hall just called me "Flaca." I can wholeheartedly assure you that I am most definitely still "Gorda," but NOBODY would have said that at this time last year, or even 3 or 4 months ago.16

One of the patients at the sub-acute/rehab where I work was quite dissapointed that he could only manage 8 minutes on the treadmill today (at a very slow pace - but post spinal surgery it was very challenging).
I encouraged him as much as possible, explaining endurance will only improve with regular exercise. When I told him that I could barely make it 1 minute at a slow jog at the start of the year, he did not want to believe me. His words were: "but you look so fit!"
I have never before been described as fit!
In a similar trend, another patient commented a week ago that I look way too skinny to be able to keep her from falling if we were to attempt mobilizing. It took some convincing to let her attempt standing up with me for the first time. I explained to her that even if I look "skinny" I have been trained in the correct techniques to assist her, and that I had more strength than it may appear.
First time in my life to be called skinny or fit.31 -
Today it's just one of those nasty days, you know one those days in which you think you have made no progress at all and you think what's the point? and it just doesn't end there 'cause it makes it hard for you to want to workout, well I had to get sneaky, the moment I stopped thinking about all those bad things, I took advantage and right away got my mat and started to workout and as I was working out I thought: Hang on a second! I never regret working out so I should just focus on this one thing right now and finish it and I'm soo glad I did! For the first time ever I nailed that calf stretch! The first time I tried this workout my calfs and heels were so stiff I couldn't do it at all, I tried again today and I'm shocked they are all they way on the floor now! And it didn't even end there! After thousands of tries I was able to do the most perfect downward dog! Heels all the way to the floor too!
If I decided not to workout then I wouldn't have experienced how much improvement I've made!
Please don't let those negative thoughts get in the way, you should find out for yourself and see with your own eyes how amazing and strong you really are! Don't screw yourself over something so amazing!30 -

I wonder about this, too, and am starting to think normal-weight people just don't "register" overweight or obese people. A lot of people say in another thread that people are nice to them all of a sudden and then attribute it to their increased confidence. Maybe ... But, I am CONSTANTLY stopped for directions now and talked to on the train. I'm not exuding confidence sitting on a bench playing with my phone. Sometimes people come up to me even when I'm reading or have headphones in. It's sad to say, but when I think about the past I felt ignored and like I didn't matter sometimes. Sure that's partly me ... but maybe I also got that from others as well.21 -
I am training for a 5K in November, and I ran it in less than 50 minutes yesterday! My goal is 45 minutes (15min/mile). I am currently 291 pounds, started at 319. Fat girls can run too!49

I've seen a few people recently that I hadn't seen in a few months. They all noticed and mentioned my weight loss. Definately a good feeling12

This week I have four...
✔️I thought not much had changed but today I saw a lady I'd not seen in maybe a year, and she said "wow, you have faded away!". She meant it nicely, and it made me smile.
✔️I have been inspired by a young girl I have friended on MFP (you know who you are). Although I have never "met" her, the positive energy and courage this woman shows is amazing. If she can harness this strength and stick at it, she will not only achieve amazing results, she will pass that strength on to others.
How do I know this? Because I think that maybe my own positivity is helping others in their journey too.
✔️Recently I was told I need further surgery and am booked in for two weeks time. The old me would have taken that as an opportunity to eat through the fridge like The Very Hungry Caterpillar and throw exercise out the window. The new me has other ideas.
✔️And finally, on Sunday while visiting my parents, my Dad pulled me aside and told me how proud he is of me. That whatever I'm doing is working, and that I look incredible for 43 years old. And THAT my friends, is the best NSV ever. Xx

A coworker called me skinny today. She's a recent addition to the staff, so she hasn't seen me at my heaviest weight. But we and a few other coworkers were talking about food and how I'm so picky with my what I eat, and she said "well that's probably why you're so skinny and fit!" and the other coworkers said "well she also workouts like all of the time." And I just laughed, but I felt really good. B/c the new girl is probably a size 0 or 2, and for her to call me skinny was super empowering for some reason.
Side note: she & I actually bonded over the fact that we're both picky eaters22 -

I ran into someone yesyerday that I hadn't seen in a while and they were so excited for my weight loss. Such a positive reaction
He also told me about a mutual acquaintance who lost over 60 pounds using mfp. And ran the boston marathon this year! It made me realize what a life changing gift mfp is for us.

I'm having kind of an off few weeks with school restarting and crazy scheduling, but my NSV is that I still feel like I can go back to losing weight and that I will, Im not just frustrated and ready to stop completely and gain weight back like I have in the past16
